I'd like a second Eve account, so I went ahead and bought it. (Didn't want to mess about with trial in case it was against the T&C).
Downloaded the latest installer, but it won't run as Eve is already installed.
So how would I go about running two copies of Eve at the same time?

Edited by: Carnael on 29/01/2006 21:24:30 Edited by: Carnael on 29/01/2006 21:23:45 Well I myselfe have EVE installed in 2 diffrent folders om my HDD, aka C:/Program/CCP and C:/Program/CCP2. I also uses 2 diffrent named icons/path's on my desktop just to seperate them. But that is realy just for speed and conviniance on my part. But DaveyE basicly said it all otherwhise on how you activate your second account. Good Luck.

Many people run EVE from the same client, and just log into a different account each time, no need to instal EVE again.
Another way, that may be more stable (though I am unsure about this, as I have never tried it) is to just copy your EVE folder, and make a new one, called EVE2 or something similar, and create a new shortcut to the eve.exe file on your desktop or whereever you put it.

Cheers. I had thought of doing that, but I thought it might mess with things. I'll make a copy of my Eve install and use one for each account.

I run 2 accounts on one computer and no special folders. I just log into them by putting in the name of the account. I've done this on 2 different computers and had np

There is no difference in using 2 installs when compared to using 1.
When you run two accounts off the same install, you will have 2 user files in your settings folder, so you can have different settings for each.

Just as an FYI, you can't just copy an installed program under Windows as it requires registry entries for it to actually run.

It works fine with eve.
I have 4 different installs that are just copied from the first original one.

Just as an FYI, EVE is not one of those programs. Fact check, then post. -- Originally by: Nyphur The irony is astounding. The sheer level of raw irony here is enough to iron my clothes for a year.
