Well, I created my first Character: Kyle*****pit. Not sure I made him right, though. I wish to become a Combat Pilot. I have determined that Willpower and Perception are my most important stats. I need to know what race you guys feel is best for combat and piloting, and how should I go about learning my skills. (What order is best, ect. As a side note, is it possible to utilize a flight stick for piloting? Or am I stuck with the double-click interface? P.S. The graphics are phenominal... I'm telling my friends to download the Trial, if for no other reason than to check out character creation and the 3-D space map. lol. Awesome.

When doing learning skills its best to do the memory one first, then intelligence and then perception and willpower because the memory/intelligence will speed up the rest of the learning skills, though it will honestly take you about a month to get all the learning skills up to advanced level 4 (usually where people leave them) and cost you about 18 million isk.... can be pretty nasty for a newer player so take your time. P.s enjoy ^.^

Why you'd want to? Because I was really looking forward to "Descent" type combat... where flying skill matters. Granted, I JUST got the game, so I'm still not used to the mouse controls... maybe I'll get into it more when I've figured it out.

Because all flight in this game is automatic, sounds pretty boring but its all a game of strategy and tactics, you tell your ship to orbit an enemy at say 10km and it plots a path and follows said path, so joysticks have nothing to do with it. But what you may lose in fun because of this method of play, you gain in low ping resulting in lovely lack of lag (unless there are hundreds of you >.<)

As an old Descent pro... let me tell you... this game is absolutely nothing like it at all... nor is there a way to make it feel so. If you are unhappy with the mouse and keyobard you can augment your controls using a Nostromo Gamepad.Nostromo SpeedPad n52 As for your character... if you are going to be very combat heavy then I would suggest putting two points into perception, two points into willpower, and one point into intelligence. Many misinformed people started the game off completely ignoring int, thinking that it was unimportant for combat pilots... many of them are vocal about their mistake. As for what race to choose... go for the race that you simply like the look of the most... and keep in mind the stats I mentioned above. Welcome to EVE... kiss your life goodbye.Only two things in life are certain... and Mercenary Coalition doesn't do taxes.
