Caldari all the way! Manticore stealth bomber and the buzzard are the 3l33t haxzor ships out there.

Edited by: Derrys on 30/01/2006 05:12:16 The Manticore is arguably the best stealth bomber, since it has three launcher slots. The drawback is that it's very hard to fit three launchers; Covert Ops level 4 is a must at the absolute minimum, and even then you'll have some difficulty putting as much in the rest of the slots as you'd like. Also keep in mind that stealth bombers can't fit the Covert Ops cloaking device (only the Improved cloaking device), and can't warp while cloaked. Many a rookie has been under the wrong impression about that, and felt disillusioned. :)

You'll be gimping yourself going with anything other than caldari. Thats true of everything stealth, as well as half of other parts of the game, save for sniping and fleet combat.

It's really not that hard to fit a Manticore. MAPC in low and you've got enough grid for 3 Cruises and a Small Cap Battery II. -------------------------------------------------------- Lieutenant BSC Military

The amarri purifier is the real diamond in the rough among the stealth bombers. Forget the manticore and train for this ship.

The manticore has the best dmg (from a stealth bomber perspective) but is slow as hell and warps a very short distance so travelling throug big systems is a pain... the buzzard is not such a great covert ops frig i think the minmatar version is better (higher speed, longer warp distance, less mass and best signature). i now fly caldari covert ops ships but i think i will swich to minmatar in the near future (as soon as i get min frig lvl5). ... I fly both a Manticore and a Buzzard and have Covert Ops trained to level 5. As a few posters have already mentioned, although the Manticore does have the most launcher hard points and is therefore capable of doingthe most burst damage, it is incredibly hard to fit (Covert Ops 5 really being necessary) and suffers from poor agility and warp distance. The Buzzard, with its high CPU capacity is a very good choice for a new Covert Ops pilot, as you can easily fit the Covert Ops cloak without havng to train Covert Ops to level 4 or higher. However, like the Manticore, poor warp distance make it an unpopular choice in fleet manouvers, and its agility means that if you do get into trouble, you will probably not be able to get out of there in time. The real surprise package I found with both Covert Ops classes were the Minmatar. The Hound is very nimble for a Bomber, and can fit up to 2 Ballistic Control Units and 2 Tech II Autocannons which can cause some real damage if you can sneak up close to your opponent. The Cheetah is by far the most agile of all the true Covert Ops ships, and ideal for fast scouting and getting into an abush position. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dissuade you from flying Caldari Covert Ops by any means. Just be aware that they tend to be very much a one trick horse, albeit very good at that one trick!~Free production, refining and POS resouces site~

Edited by: ArchenTheGreat on 30/01/2006 11:02:03 You can't really compare Manticore with other stealth bombers. Manticore is a long range ship - above 50km or so. Fit it with ECM modules and hunt in packs killing your targets with alpha strike. Unfortunately there is little use for turret slot on Manticore. So you are loosing some of your damage potential. I can also fly Nemesis and this is close range bomber (I think this is the case with other too). I have two cruise and two small electron blasters and my blasters do almost the same damage as cruise in total. This ship is nicely fit to solo hunting. You just need to get close to target when cloaked. I think Covert Ops. lvl 5 is a must have. You can live with Assault Ships lvl 4 and be quite effective. Unfortunately some bombers are very hard to fit without maxed out skills. Nemesis is impossible to fit according to it's bonus even with maxed out skills - you just can't fit cloak, launchers and ANY hybrid guns without power mod (I bug reported it). As was stated above Buzzard is a "noob" ship. It's quite easy to fit even with lower level skills. It's good if you want to fit probe launcher. But if you want to work as a mobile warp in point you must look at ship speed. It looks like the best covop in this case is a Cheetah.

I would probably say Caldari, but personally I'm training for the amarr version, the purifier.

I haven't flown either one of these since I got engineering 5 and a couple other skills, so these won't be the best setups, but they work for the most part. My Nemesis: Hi: 2x XT-9000 Launchers, T2 Cloak Mid: Target Painter, Sensor Dampner or Multispec Jammer Low: RCU, BCS My Helios: Hi: CO Cloak, Probe Launcher Mid: Sensor Dampner or Multispec Jammer, 4x Cap Rechargers (Dampners + Jammers eat cap on frigs) Low: 3x Nanofibers

Edited by: Cosimo Fat on 30/01/2006 12:55:15 this is all great info, thanks everyone. how about just regular covert ops ships with no armaments...i assume that speed is king? do any of these ships have a big enough cargo hold to trade stuff in?

look here for the covert ops variant (the ones that have a bonus to using a covertops cloaking device) ... A wise man never plays TAG with a RINO

Oh, and if you're still new, these ships really suck. I mean that in the most serious of ways. You're going to spend atleast 2 months training just to fly one, nevermind learning how to use a cloak and all the probe skills to make yourself useful in a fleet battle.

You will reach a point when the Covert Opo's frig is the most useful ship in EVE. It will be your 'go to' choice when you have to get someplace where evil people are trying to kill you. But, till you reach that point, I'm not sure what value it would be. In any event, you want that skill sometime. Good luck... _________________________________________________________________
