Just curious what you guys think about the upcoming Marauder changes vis-a-vis wormholes. Seems like they won't be particularly efficacious for low class PVE given their sub par DPS vs faction battleships/T3s, and I'm still not clear on what the vision is for their role in PvP.
Any thoughts on how / if you guys will be using them? |

Sub par Dps vs t3s? I think you need to go fit some up and test that.
As for Whs I think it might give an option for soloing higher class sites. You can get enough tank out of them to solo up to C5. Although you'd have to deal with the neuts.
I can See an AC Vargur ripping through c3 sites. Although it is a nice big target. |

The T3 comment was more about the prevalence of those ships for running the sites, not so much the DPS (I edited my original post). I keep reading about their great tank but for WH space, I think you've got it right, I don't see a way around the neuts. |

There is a number of niches the new Marauders could fill. Personally we might use them as long range support for the armor T3s. Being able to apply scorch DPS from nearly 100km away seems worth while. Combine that with being able to MJD would make them viable when entering a wh.
Fleet jumps, armor T3s engage, Marauders MJD to range. ...pew pew
There is numerous other tactics I'm sure. |

I think they're gonna do well in magnetar holes especially. But yeah 2-3 of them with an armor t3 gang is gonna be fun. Vargur and paladin I'm hoping |

So I have Minmatar BS V, and was thinking of going for the Vargur, has anyone seen any preliminary numbers on what kind of range/DPS they're going to have with Arties and Autocannons? |

They'll get used as bait and not much else. Anyone actually running PVE will just go do incursions in high sec {i.e. these things can easily solo tank vanguards w/ faction tank & boosts} |

I agree they wont have much use in WH. They have smaller DPS tahn faction BS, cost higher than carrier and tank smaller and weaker than carrier even in bastion mode. |

They might see more use in C4, and maybe C3. Having a carrier those holes is not really worth it. C4 sites can be hard to tank with just a couple of ships. C3s can get a bit tough in the higher end sites for small groups as well. Honestly though I'm just not sure why you'd not want to bring a T3 in c3-4 sites. The only thing a Marauder brings is salvage as you go... Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Even then they could still be neuted out, much like a dreadnaught could be. If I was really dead set on clearing a C4 on up of a dickstar POS, I'd use a dread simply because with the correct pilot they will have far more DPS.
Just because something is new, or shiny, doesn't mean necessarily that it should be used in place of older and more proven methods. |

There are no L4 missions in WH space so their impact will be very low. That said, they'll probably be kept on hand for closing WHs. Stuck In Here With Me:-á http://sihwm.blogspot.com.au/ |

You WILL see them in C4 sites, possibly complimenting RR/Logi groups with enough tank and cap support to always survive getting through bastion mode and catch reps if neuted.
They have interesting uses in PVP, but its going to be a while before practicality catches up to theory crafting. Its taken me a while to learn that just because something looks great on paper does not translate to in game effectiveness. So, we shall see what the sand box comes up with.... 90km optimal blaster kronos? Yes please!
We've been discussing these in corp and are looking forward to the spate of experimentation which will ensue in w-space with their advent. They will be used in C3's, though it's overkill, and will be used in C4's for soloing. it's possible to make them "cap stable enough" to do C4's even with the neuts on field, you just have to get away from the permatank paradigm.
As far as it goes, it will be cheaper to fit out an armour Marauder for this work simply because of the extra cost associated with shield pimp. So i'm betting on the Paladin and Kronos being most popular, outside of Pulsars. Also, don't discount Red Giant systems as being popular for Marauders.
For PVP, I for one will be cautious about tackling a Marauder in a C3/C4 site even with a small gang. There's a prevalence toward Falcons for EWAR tank, but against a marauder you're just going to lose a Falcon. But we will see - it's not like too many people roll around with small gangs. it's usually hordes of bored idiots dogpiling one poor sap, and even a Marauder's tank won't save it from that. I'm pretty positive that some more experimental minds will mount three Large RR-modules in the utilityhighs. If you're fighting on the hole, there might be little more promising compared to unjammable logistics. Man marauders can lock 10 targets, where you'd deploy those things, that would cover both your fleet and the hostiles down to the tertiary :p https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=288823&find=unread - Looking for a handful of well-versed EU pilots. Wow you can search. Impressive. You seem to misunderstand however. We live in a Sh!tty C4.
We'd love more Pew, but we are a corp of old farts with busy jobs and families. I personally rarely have hours on end to roam the vastness of WH space looking for stuff to shoot at, but I try to whenever I can. |
