Get involved in lowsec PVP and small gang warfare.
Join a small pirate organization. That rekindled my interest after I almost gave up, and I have been playing for almost 3 years straight now, making buckets of isk doing lowsec PVE and regularly pushing peoples, .. ahem.. 'stuff' in.
EDIt: you have zero kills and two losses.
Get involved in PVP.
It's the only part of this game that is actually good. |

I was going to ask what haven't you done in Eve yet.. but since there's so many roads to take, I think a more appropriate question is what have you done already? |

OP, best thing to do is get involved with things that incorporate people. For example, PVP, running a PVE corp, pretty much anything that requires you to delegate. Super cali hella yolo swaga dopeness. -á-Yoloswaggins, in the fellowship of the bling. |

+1 more for joining a lowsec pirate corp. Small gang PvP, best PvP. "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose."-á --áBienator II |

You can dislike what he said, it doesn't stop it from being true. My favorite saying is "if you're not having fun in a sandbox, it's not the Sands fault".
A sandbox game requires a player to be a self starter, unlike a themepark game that sets out the experience for the player. |

I can't stress enough the importance of getting to know people. Chat in local, chat in corporation public channels, chat everywhere.
Then, once you find someone you are interested in flying with, fake an illness at work so that you can maintain a regular online presence, thus gaining your e-colleagues trust. Once you have alienated all your real life friends and pulled a ridiculous amount of hours, working in a variety of different EvE "professions" then, and only then, you may have started to find your place in this terrible universe.
It is at this point you realise that this game has its fangs well and truly in your neck. No other MMO will feel worth playing.
It's time to make a choice. Bail out? Or stick. If you bail out, well that's probably a sensible thing to do. Eve is a terrible Mistress.
If you stick.
Only then can you start working on your vital rebuilding process where "I play for fun" and not "I MUST PLAY ALL DAY" starts to balance itself. This is the first stage in becoming...
A BITTER VET. It will take time. In general I would take yourself through at least four expansions before you even consider yourself bitter. It takes a special blend of expectation versus disappointment to gain that status. If you declare bitterness too early nobody will take you seriously. Your comments will be smited once, twice and thrice by mighty forum warriors. Don't fall into this trap.
Veteran status is something that you have to earn through trials of damp towels. Celebrate the fireworks when they come along.
Anyways - I got off tangent a little there.
Basically - make friends. This game is nothing without them. NOTHING. Just have fun with it. The second that you realise you are free to be who you want - you will get it. The all of the above drivel will make sense.

solo play is, in my opinion, probably the worst aspect of eve doing co-operative stuff with other people, even mining, makes it more bearable

I have been told by the good people of these forums that when EVE gets dull it is your own fault and you need to undock and do 'something'
Especially if you live in 0.0
Undock
and do..

Jesus, no wonder you're bored.
Here's what you do; think about what attracted you to eve, i guess it wasn't mining. Join corp that is into said thing. Have fun.
One of my little side projects when i'm bored is spending time in low sec, exploring, and chilling out.

It took me about a year to do this. I was scared of chatting in channels, on comms, I was basically scared of everything.

I say you go to Jita, fit out a smart bomb bs. Load the cargo hold with some relatively cheap shinnies. Then go about 50k off the undock and announce in local that you are frustrated and quitting and giving away all your stuff away. Start ejecting the shinnies one at a time. Once you get a crowd activate the smart bombs and go down in blaze of glory. I don't play, I just fourm warrior. |

This. I used to be a mission runner in high-sec for a couple of months and eventually unsubbed out of boredom. It was only after finding a low-sec piracy blog that I got interested in EVE again, joined a noob-friendly low-sec PvP corp and haven't looked back since.

Have you considered the amusing field of Role Playing? The New Order of Hisec is a very welcoming group. Bump or gank miners for fun and profit all while meeting new people. Sure those new people will spew all sorts of vile hate at you, but hisec is worth saving. Lots of ways to get started and a lot of agents of the Order willing to help a new bro get going. See http://www.minerbumping.com/ for more details. Hey CCP, please slush my fund like you did for SOMER Blink. |

Today is (literally) your four-month mark in the game; you started on 6/17/13. Get out there and get in fights! Look into joining RvB, as they are generally Frigate-based PvP: it's inexpensive, and is a lot of fun.
Barring that, even if you don't want to necessarily get involved with PvP, get into an actual player corp. You were in one for only a few days previously, being in NPC corps the overwhelming majority of your time. Being in a corp with others who have active comms, active activities, active anything, really (even a drunk-op mining corp) is infinitely better than going solo in an NPC corp.
Get out there and mingle, and for Sanity's sake, sell your retriever! Run some frigs in lowsec systems, and when you die (which will happen often), chat with your killers, ask for advise, and see if they'll recommend how to avoid your particular manner of death again in the future; you'll make some solid mates that way, just by talking with them and being friendly. Ransoms are accepted in Isk, Ships, Mods, and Dolls. |

This person is correct. the purpose of pve in eve is to afford pvp. i vary my pve from incursion, to missions, to wh diving, to exploration to manufacturing just to minimise the repetitive dullness of making isk. then i do pvp which is awesome.

EVE is partially about what you do, but mostly about who you fly with.
Surely, there are people that prefer to operate solo more often than not, but doing so while being part of a group of like-minded and spirited people is what makes it happen for me.
And jumping in a Retriever while not having a corp to find some entertainment with is definately the road to boredom.
I'm a reasonably old cat (even though there are those double my game-age), but I still love every minute of it. |
