Before I go training in another direction, I wanted to ask you what you've experienced. I've been training bigger and better since I began playing, like most everyone else... but I want to know if a smaller, faster ship can still hold it's own? If I train Interceptors for example, will I be able to tackle those same rats in .3 that I can with my BS? I haven't seen a rat use a webby yet, so I'll ask to exclude that threat. So is it feasible? And if you've been able to fly a smaller ship using speed as your greatest weapon, what was your setup and what would you consider your limits? Thanks. AV.

A properly flown inty should be able to take 0.3 rats yes, though an AF would work better.
BS is overdoing it for 0.3 anyway, you would be better with an AF, Cruiser, or maybe a BC.

Limit is definitely damage output, you may be able to avoid nearly all of a rat's damage, but you're just wasting time if you can't kill the rat in the first place. -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

I've been tanking every 0.0 rat with my retribution (AF) so far. Just make your ship fast and don't get webbed and you can talk anything

When I just started EVE, I lost 2 Kestrels in a very short time span... one in a gate camp, one against rats. Now, 3 months later, I gave that ship another go and I'm amazed at what I can do with it now. I've rat-hunted successfully with it in 0.4 space without getting scratched. Ofcourse, I understand so much better what it can do now compared to then. Yes, I'm using speed and agility as a major advantage. They allow me to get away from larger ships in time if needed. I'm fitting much more sensibly and using and training my skills in accordance. It's great fun too

It does depend what you want to do.
I recently took out a Prophecy in nothing more than an Incursus with three non-named Blasters, a tech 1 AB, small armour rep I, cap power relay, cap recharger I, and a Warp Scrambler. The whole setup cost about 300k and was designed to be a throwaway bit of fun.
Small ships are great if you catch people unprepared for them. But drones, web, and nosferatu are your enemies. But not everyone fits those, which leaves large ships highly vulnerable to small tacklers.
BTW, rats can and do use webs. Bear this in mind.

I hit BC, got my first Ferox (which I then lost in the l3 version of Illegal Activities 3/3 :( ), and learned instantly that I do not, under any circumstances, want to fly a BS.
Why? Because the BC already has the speed and agility of a dying mule, the BS, being much larger, has got to be even worse.
Covert Ops is my next target. :| Smaller and invisible 4tw.
Me.
