as a new player i was soon seduced by the Electronic warfare combat ability but discovered there were not so much options. the main reason is that the most important aspect of EW has not been treated (to me) : Communication
so i began to think about new modules (dreaming of them to be one day available on the market):
Advanced spyware module aka buglauncher (used in combination with passive targeter module): works like any turret but with a very poor firerate, very long range and special ammo : EW mole microphone device.
The pilots who succesfully hits its target is able (as long as its target remains in the same solar system) to "see" all its active channels.
a jammer version would be the "deafer/muter" (depending of the ammo type). disabling the target's communication systems for a period of time (depending on ammo quality) or until the ship has been "cleaned".
so it would mean 1 new launcher type and 3 useable ammotypes T2 mod : probelauncher mod : launches an autoguided stealth T2 ammo
Connex modules lowslots "Fishscale"/"dolphinmembrane"/"whaleskin" hullmod (depending of ship's format) powergrid hungry: emits random EM microbursts along ship's armor disabling any nested devices (passive)- lowers armor HP a bit, light signature radius gain. medslots Ship integrity scanner (can be an advanced CPU chip): scans ship's surface and send a warning message if any "bug" is found (active)
Cerberus homeguard blinks when ship becomes a target of a launched EW bug (passive) and launchs countermeasure flares (why not adopt the defender system)
Hislots "name of those little birds that clean hippo's nostrils" remote EW.bugs cleaner (working as remote armor repairer). prevents to be obliged to dock for a time and and money wasting bugscan/remove procedure (associated with the repairstation services)
Drones scanners/removers or both (T2)
those don't sound gadget to me, Communication warfare is the key to advanced fun and tactics.

You'd need something to hack into teamspeak, because reading chat channels would be net to useless :P

How about some sort of tracking device? CCP seems big into the corp warfare right now, and being able to bug an enemy ship so you know which systems - maybe even which stations - it's visiting could be handy intelligence. Lots of creative uses for an item that lets you track somebody's movements and actions. I can see pirates making use of it, too. Perhaps balance out the bugs with some sort of anti-bug scanner or jammer (or heck, normal ECM bursts even). After a set amount of time - which varies depending on your skills and quality of the module used - the bug falls off.

That would kick ass hit them with a bug and find out where they got a POS or a safe spot.

How about access to logs? There is a lot you can find out about a ship/player through logs, right?
