Hey just wondering what are the risks of ejecting from ship in 0.0 and leaving it there... what equipment do you need to be able to find an abandoned ship and would people actually go looking for one??

Risks are great if you dont hide it well. If I ever saw a battleship in the middle of nowhere and nobody was in it i would go get it :) If its in a safespot then all someone needs is probes and they will find it.

Thats only if they have every intention to search a system. If you eject in a low traffic system you should be fine. For example go to a moon, then go as far out in a direction as you can, eject and set a bookmark. It should be safe as long as no one else knows what system you ejected in.

Or just make a safespot. Even better, make an off ecliptic safespot and put it there, then only people with astrometrics 5 can find it. In low traffic systems, people often wont check scanner there. So you might be okay for a while. But if someone hits scanner and sees it, within the next hour or so, someone from their corp/alliance will likely take it.

I know of many instances where people who are AFK at a safespot have been found and killed, where shuttles, haulers and other (low value) ships left in SS's have been destroyed... basically, don't unless you got a Pre-RMR BM which is up or down of the normal plane of play, or it's one of those massive systems 150 au side to side........ - even then, there's a good chance that you're gonna come back to find its not there one day......
