Just played it with the friends and family. I have to say it was the most invigorating board game I've played in a long time. It's like Monopoly but the winning player can always be brought down several notches (or in our case brought down to the lowest out of us all).
I was a little iffy at first because the descriptions I've read of it were vague as the dickens but the use of Karma cards is about the funniest thing in the world. In one case, it pretty much went like this:
- I land on a space that would give me 3 points for a total of 25 (the winning number) - Player B played a card that made it to where I wouldn't receive any points for the space I landed on. - Preparing for this earlier, I used my own karma card to force them to give me the 3 points needed to win. - Player C, out of no-where, threw down "I don't think so" and invalidated it. - Player D, as we were all in shock from the way the cards were played, played the exact same "I don't think so card" which invalidated Player C's use of it, resulting in me winning.
Not sure if the card could be used that way but it was hilarious none the less. All in all everyone was either raging or laughing in this weird roller coaster of winning/losing and we've all unanimously agreed to play again next week. And I have to say, seeing a player struggle with the ******* addiction 'wasted' card is funnier than Cards Against Humanity.
10/10, excellent game and surprisingly enough was probably the most worth while investment of the collector's edition. |

Glad you think it was the most worthwhile investment. I too enjoy board games that cost over a hundred dollars. Save the Domi model! Spacewhales should be preserved. |

I am sorry that you appear to have received a defective CE containing only the board game. I recommend contacting the vendor immediately to obtain the missing items. |

they shipped late last week, apparently from the manufacturer/vendor in Georgia (at least thats where mine came from).
I expect the "plan" was to have them shipped on Friday (or today)for delivery on Weds/Thurs next week (when, I assume the "preorder" status of the CE is over) ...
Sounds like the danger game works exactly like Eve --- Player vs. People One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Daaaaaaaaaamn that snarky comment backfired. Anyway in all seriousness the CE seems pretty cool, glad you're enjoying what seemed to be the least-relevant piece of it to me. Save the Domi model! Spacewhales should be preserved. |

If two added negatives equal a positive, then Maybe awefull and horrible add up to good. Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Not that I have bought the game, but 100$+ for a boardgame is pretty common.
They cost a lot.

Adding negative produces a negative. You have to multiply two negatives to produce a positive. Sadly, I know of no real world examples of the later. |

it looks like it has the "money" aspect of Monopoly, but (based on the rules anyway) seems to play more like "Trouble" or "Sorry". One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Basically the only thing money is good for is purchasing items with which if you land on them you get points (you need 25 to win). The points you get are determined by your brain cells.
- Brain Cells are earned by landing on spaces designated for their accrual, or cards that dictate such. - Money is earned by passing 'start' but it's important to note that if you do not claim that money before you pass the dice, you lose the opportunity to get it. You can also get it from other players by playing cards to screw them over, or by cards that dictate such. - Points are earned from landing on spaces with items you own or by cards that dictate such. - Karma cards are your bread and butter, altering the game play and can be played at any time. - Life cards also alter the game but not always in your favor. - Wasted cards are entirely detrimental, hard to obtain them but they involve you losing brain cells (temporarily, as long as you retain the wasted card) and sometimes you'll have to give up points/money in the event that someone lands on a 'moon' space. There are three tiers of being 'wasted', each having progressively higher negative affects.
Essentially, Karma cards can be used to screw over people or forge alliances. For instance:
The card 'I don't think so' can be played defensively or offensively. Example:
- Player A plays 'Hanging with Sid', a card that forces you to obtain a 'wasted' card, choosing Player B as his target. - Player C plays 'I don't think so', a card that prevents the effects of Karma or Life cards from taking place, in an effort to save Player B the effects of Player A's karma card.
Offensively, it can be used as such:
- Player A plays a karma card: 'New Direction' which allows them to add or subtract 1 from their roll (potentially for a better outcome) - Player B plays 'I don't think so' and thus cancels their action.
In this way, the game rapidly shifts as players forge alliances and backstab one another in varying ways. In one case I had made an alliance with another player and continued it until the very end when he was about to win by gaining three points. I just happened to have a card that makes it so that any points he would gain would be given to me instead, and thus won the game despite screwing over my alliance at the very end. |

It's really fun if you make it into a drinking game in which every time someone plays a Karma card they have to take a drink.
.... even better if they have to finish said drink every time they earn points. |
