Seriously though ... WTH happened to the countdown for the server coming back up? 
Since it has gone away this has been getting worse and worse ... guessing they changed somthing and messed it up

The exact same thing happened yesterday. After about 15 tries I managed to get logged in but the market didn't come up until 20 minutes later.
I'd really like to know what the deal is. The last few days we don't have the timer that used to say when the system was coming up. It just suddenly starts accepting logins that fail 90 percent of the time.
Is this going to be the way things work from now on?

Woo! I'm back in and lag seems ok. I'm guessing anyone still stuck outside EVE will get back in over the next 5 to 10mins as servers process the backlog of login requests.

The problem is not solved...just tried now (13:24 in game) and still stuck on the enterring game as Tas Devil screen...

Black screen for me aswell although I can hear the in-game music. I have resorted to using white-out on my screen to draw spaceships, and making "pew pew pew, blammo" noises for my fighting.
