Hi there!
I'm on my way to start running L4 missions, and I've put my eyes on the Megathron. I've been researching for some fits, and I've seen no fits with a MJD, something I find interesting as I'm aiming for Marauders and Incursions. Right now I can't decide between a MJD or non-MJD fit, as I've never used this module.
I wanted to ask for some feedback from players who have used such fit for L4 security missions: is it more effective? Does it kill things faster than a more standard AB fit, as it should be able to fit more damage mods? Is it too squishy for a newbie to L4's (although I can fit a T2 tank)? I'd also like to see some fittings with it, if you please could.
As a side question, what about MJD's on Incursions? Isn't it risky to be so far away from the Logistics, or it doesn't matter as long as you have fleet mates getting all the aggro? Have you ever tried them out
Many thanks in advance! |

in general a mjd is most useful to range tank. since you are sitting at long range you might be able to fit more damage mods, but you will be using a longer range ammo and probably end up losing dps. Most battleships can fit 2-3 damage mods and adequate tank for missions.
it might be worth it to fit a mjd when you start missions so if you get into trouble you can mjd out and run away. but once you get set and know the missions and what your ship can do I'd rather use something else for that slot. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

I used the MJD on my Navy Dominix and loved it with my sentry drones, I was later messing around with my navy mega (I don't remember why) but I took the MWD off and put the MJD on and found it much easier killing things. However word of warning. with the MJD you will find yourself slow boating to gates 20-30km away and depending on how/if you salvage sites you are looking at more slow boating around.
The MJD is really just the lazy mans way to get away from things. and outside of swapping the MWD for a MJD i didn't change the rest of the fit. While i used rails on my mega a fellow corpie used blasters and moved through missions quicker then i did. (higher dps, easier to burn to gates with a MWD, less lazy then i was)
as to the incursions i have no idea i've never done them. . CCP where are my wormhole incursions!

MJD is a good way to instantly position yourself. Its a good option if you want to use a rail mega. You will need some tank as some battleships can hit at 60-100km. The other nice thing about the MJD is that you can use it to escape warp-scrambling npcs without having to kill them. Fighting is Magic |

MJD kills your dps since you won't do much at high ranges outside of cruise missile or T2 sentry domi fittings. Once you know the missions a mwd is a much better choice. As for the mega, well the hype will give you the better tank and more dps, as well as the domi. A rail mega can work on high skill levels but I never was satisfied with mega/navy mega before the introduction of the Kronos(what will be considerable worse with the changes). Currently I do use a mwd fitted 1200 dps rail/sentry Kronos for L4, it is suprisingly effective as far as rail/sentry platforms go(for multi boxing, going 1100m/s, having 100km+ projection range, insta pop frigs with the 90% web and omni tanking every L4 comes really into it's own), will probably sell it after the changes.

It doesn't matter if you don't get shoot, however once you get shoot, you will die very quick(the bigger sites might be able to 2 volley you in a active tank).
Overall MJD is pointless in Incs. Improve discharge rigging: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=246166&find=unread

Many thanks for the help. Seems like MJD sniping is a fine way of putting yourself out of (most of the) damage, but also reducing your damage output. In fact, I've been considering the three Gallente T1 BS', and I've seen I 'feel better' with the Dominix: after training T2 sentries and trying them out at SiSi with that ship, I discovered I don't even need it: a simple AB is enough for giving me enough mobility to not spend eternities moving to gates, and repositioning my sentries. Seems like the only really effective MJD mission ships are going to be the new Marauders, as their Bastion mode should increase their damage output enough for sniping proving itself to be more useful. |

as stated the MJD is best used on shipping/ range fits such as raven or domi. if you can use T2 sentrys use the domi with MJD.
just remember once you click the MJD button it can't be stopped and you can't alter the course of your ship. just remember to recover your drones. |

I did think about it too, but I'm not sure how does it perform on missions (I know they're widely used at Incursions, at least between newcomers). Any feedback about the Hyperion? |
