Hi all,
I have seen it recommened that a covops ship can scramble someone while the cavalry comes in to finish the job. So I assume I sneak near someone, uncloak, scramble and then my buddies warp to me and pop the ship I just scrambled.
Now, even with cloaking at 5, you have a delay to lock your target. In that time should he not be able to 1) be getting warped the heck outta there or 2) be targetting me and blowing my butt out of the water? Either way I am either very lucky to scramble him or very lucky not to be bits of debris floating in space given my tiny shields/armor?
Heck, if I knew I were scrambled and saw the buddies coming in to finish me off, I would want to kill the covops first just because it would be an easy kill.
Am I missing something that might keep the covops safe?

I use my Cheetah as a secondary scrambler. As you say would would probably get blown to hell or the opponent would warp out if you try to be primary.
Use the covert ops as the warp in point for another scrambler - this will distract your target allowing you to decloak and help tackle. I tried this the other day with a friend in a Rax - worked well except the rupture had 4 stabs on!
So my advice would be pack your mids with 3 (or however many scramblers you can) and make sure you keep your target where you want him. Even put on a web so if he turns on you, you can run.

I saw a gang use a cheetah as a primary tackler the other day.... I could not believe my eyes when i saw it. It was effectively a 40 million isk tackler. Needless to say the Moa he was tackling killed him very quickly.
What a waste of a covert ops.
If you mount a scrambler on a standard covert ops frig, it's for those few times that you probe someone who's logoff timer is still active. That way you can hold them so a gangmate can show up to kill them.
The bomber has no delay, so it can tackle pretty well. I only suggest tackling something that will die fast though, the bomber is a pretty weak ship if shot at. --Victory needs no explanation, defeat allows none.-- |
