Though it was my foolishness that allowed me to be ambushed, revenge is best served by big bounty payouts. The Warlock Brigade, led by Terry Dalton has earned itself a 1,000,000,000 bounty for engaging in unethical business practices by listing items cheap and targeting the purchaser when they enter the territory for pickup. Though it is a meager bounty sum, I'm certain that someone may find it in their heart to collect the change I leave lying here in Khanid space in the name of trade ethics everywhere.
Here is the smoking gun of their malevolent business tactics: http://imageshack.com/a/img34/9007/v8gc.png

Well, it's not just his ship... Still, you can run around low-sec pvping just for the crap their hulls drop, or you can earn money doing it. You can earn money by pvping warlock brigade. He was flying a drake, with fitting that could spell a fair profit for 5-10 min work. Or you can just go back to mining, whatever you like to do - free money for kills is free money for kills. I'm certainly not going to place more than a billion for them ganking my 60 mil load. Usually I'd ignore it, but it's just not nice to ambush your customers.
The way I look at it is, 1,000,000,000 at a 20% payout means them ganking my little industrial just cost them 5,000,000,000 ISK in hulls and fittings - a small price to pay for business ethics.
I mean, we have this nasty, unrighteous Gallente in Amarr space ambushing innocent industrialists and nobody cares to set them back on the staight and narrow path towards honest work? How sad.
You don't know how this works don't you?

Oh well, at least I get a little mail everytime someone gets popped from the corp. For a high stakes PvP game, people really don't seem that into the PvP... There are people that run around fighting in this game right? I swear they exist somewhere. Still, market ambushes are no fun and at least one group who does it has a bit more to make traders wary.
The bounty system had always been broken. Putting bounties on people has only ever been a reward for the person that has the bounty placed on them. Originally they could take the isk via an alt and their victim and given them a free gift. Now it is a source of pride as how large your bounty is. I too have heard reports that Mr Kane provides excellant value for money and goes above and beyond at performing his terrorist duties. I just wish i could find where he writes the stories that he used to gift to the pirate thread. |

Well, unfortunately all the ISK I'm willing to put up has been rendered into their bounty. If there's still a way to exploit the bounty system to give money to the player or corp that it was placed on, that is clearly a EULA violation. I don't really see how plausible it is with 20% payouts to really exploit it - though I am far less familiar with the game than some and it does seem like claiming money for one's self from the bounty system would be considered exploiting - though CCP apparently enforces things like no warping to zero but lets others generate trillions by exploiting the insurance payout system.
If people aren't competent enough PvPers to go track down corps with bounties even when they know where the POSes are, then I suppose that corp can just have their nice big bounty and be proud of it.
But this forum is for pointing out people who are extra lame when they do business and need to target people by checking their wallets rather than doing legitimate recon - as if I have a choice to know in advance who I buy from or if I reveal who I am when I make a purchase. For such lame-ass, lazy recon techniques, I post the screenshot proving it - if someone is competent enough to make money from the bounty, so be it. If they're not, haulers and the like will know of one more corp that might put up bait courier contracts and market sales.
Ganking your customers, not good business ethics and people who might want to do business with a corp or alliance might like to know who engages in rather tactless business deals.
Anyway, those POS's again, are:
Rilera VI - Moon 1

Bounty and whatever loot drops for competent corps who are bored. Seems better if you're bored and want PvP to go after corps with bounties than those with none. Other than that, being bountied is generally detrimental.

Not everyone with a bounty did bad things to get it. For instance, I often ask clients to tip my bounty if they enjoyed my service. I would like an opportunity to earn a bounty tip from you as well. AWOXing means joining their corp to blow up their expensive non-PVP ships. Can be in high sec, or in low, it usually means using the 'blue' status to point one or more valuable ships that you proceed to hot drop.
You can do the latter yourself if you have three accounts - an Interceptor pilot you can get into their corp, a carrier pilot and a neutral cyno character. In high sec you only need one or two characters for AWOXing. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. Yeah, first of all, "market ambushes" are NOT a "thing". Stop saying that.
Repeating his POS locations in C&P will not lead to their destruction. Stop posting them.
Posting a bounty on someone will not lead to their death, in most cases. You are correct that "ambushing your customers is not nice." Eve is not nice. While you may have been able to hire someone for that billion ISK, you did not, because you acted before you understood how things worked. Much like when you jumped into low sec looking for a bargain. Less assumptions and more research will save you a lot of ISK and a lot of heartache. The only thing your thread has accomplished is to let every shark in the game know you have tons of disposable income and no idea how to play this game. The next few months may be very trying for you. I wish you the best of luck surviving them. http://eveprincessbride.wordpress.com/ |

It might not be common, but I can immediately think of 4 or 5 people who mainly do these market operations for fun and profit. Others make up a large percentage of the trades of certain items for the intel it can provide. There was a fairly recent story on tmc about some guys doing this with officer mods more or less. Sell an expensive item, blow customer up and maybe scoop loot, repeat.
The OP may be able to hire someone here to take out the POSes, but you're right in that merely posting them will accomplish nothing. See Bio for isk doubling rules. -áIf you didn't read bio, chances are you helped fund those who did. |

Well......he could bribe one of your corpies (via Chribba, obviously) to go on an AWOXING spree for a billion ISK.
Or just dump a billion ISK into a bounty pool (again, via Chribba) and pay out, say, 50-100 million ISK per kill to anybody depending on the ship/pod destroyed.
But just better to hire Kane, or Break-A-Wish (when they aren't on vacation) if you really want to spend that sort of money.

Hopefully he has learnt something, and after all trying to get some form of revenge (even though bounty's don't work), is pretty much Eve done right.

Didn't see a straight up answer to your question. Yes, bounties are broken. They are only useful for making carebears cry which is hardly a legitimate game function. You bounty a bunch of guys in lowsec, but if someone wanted to shoot them, they'd shoot them regardless of the bounty. They are in lowsec because they want people to shoot. You're not hurting them even if by some chance the bounty was a draw.
Read this thread to get an idea of just how broken they are:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=288639&find=unread
Unless someone comes up with a way to make "bounty hunting" a thing, bounties should be removed from the game. You wasted your isk. Hey CCP, please slush my fund like you did for SOMER Blink. |

EDIT: For some clarification, he took a shortcut through two lowsec systems to buy something in high sec, and his ship was popped on his way back through lowsec. He could have easily taken a longer high sec route. You are lucky the happy pirates are giving you good advice. I can expand on it: 1. Never bring a t1 hauler into low unless you control the gate. Even if the gate is empty. Some happy pirates have their ship parked at 400km off the gate and are aligned to the gate. When their cloaked scout on the other side of the gate says "indy on the gate, they are jumping in", they hit warp and land on the gate within a few seconds. Your indy can't align in time to get away. Also of note, 'pvp indies' are a myth. Just killed one today, they don't have the lock time or the tank.
2. A T2 blockade runner is an better ship to bring into low, if you have a covert ops cloak. They can cloak before just about anyone gets a lock. Put a few intertial stabilizers on it, and you can align in 3 seconds.
Anyway, low sec pvp'ers love it when people are hauling things. It gets boring camping a gate. If you really want a fun time, try fitting a bunch of reinforced bulkheads, a DCII, and a cyno, then go into low and light it if you get attacked. You'll probably lose your ship anyway, but you can imagine the pirate com channel. |

It's sort of like "wow that procurer mining in lowsec had a scram and a web and local just spiked, what a completely shocking turn of events."
The new thing is cyno SFIs I'm pretty sure. Like "hi I'm a pirate SFI by a gate. I'm an elite solo PvPer here to catch noobs in cruisers. Oh no I am now being attacked by multiple people, the one weakness of an elite solo PvPer such as myself how could they have known. What ever shall I do???" |
