I notice that a lot of courier missions offer paltry rewards for big collateral to go through low sec space. For example, I saw several that paid like 10k with 750k collateral, going through low sec. The volume was 0, so I assume the load was a BP. Looks like high risk for low payout. Get into low space, get jumped, the loot is the collateral. Has anybody heard of such happening? Seems like it would be impossible to prove. --------------------------------------------- You don't know the power of the dark side. -- Darth Vader |

I don't think it's a matter of prove/disprove. I'm sure it happens.

almost a third of all player courier missions are scams....
High payout, high collateral, only to have you deliver to a player-owned outpost which will kill you the moment you see it.
And the rest, well when someone decide they are so bored they would fly 3 indy full of crap 10 jumps for 100K reward and 100mil collateral, they might actually work.

I put up a lot of courier missions. I always put up a decent payout (i.e 50-100k per jump) and these ones gets snapped up very quickly.
The trouble is, if all the good ones get snapped up, that only leaves the crappy ones. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Heh, I put up what I thought was an attractive courier mission, albeit 3 jumps into low sec - 1.5 million for 10k m3, and no takers so far. Stacmon to Annancale...
I suppose I should have split it into two shipments of 5k, but there you go. But while I was doing it, I looked at the other courier missions, and they were just pathetic...do people seriously expect people to haul @ 5k per jump??

Yes, some people do set low sec courier missions as bait and gank the haulers at a gate en route, or at the destination station. My advice is, if the mission looks stupid, don't accept it. High volumes, near-zero volumes and destinations in 0.0 should ring alarm bells. Also, don't get out of bed for less than a quarter mil.

Ok...I am new to using courier missions, and I am looking to utilize them if possible. However, what do you all consider to be a full indy load? 5000 M? 10000 M?
I am just trying to figure out what a reasonable load amount is. I am willing to offer them reasonable pay per jump. I just want to setup missions that won't sit for a month.

I size my courier missions in batches equal to secure can capacities.
So breaking up a large load into 3900 m^3 chunks.

When I get bored, sometimes I suit up for deep space runs. Need to use your head, and stack your modules accordingly. If you're hauling in low sec space, you need lots of WCS, instas, and a little luck :). Use an alt to scout the route ahead of time in a shuttle, works surprisingly well. Oh, and if the reward looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Depends where they're going to be; in 0.0 space, for instance, nobody will want to use cargo expanders; they need those low slots for WCS and nanofibers or inertial dampers. So even with an Iteron V, 7500m3 is your limit.
In high sec empire, the same Iteron V can take a single unit of 24,000m3; or a total of about 35,000m3 if it's stuff that goes into secure cans. ________________________________________________
