Howdy,
I had a look on these forums before installing and couldn't see any reports of incompatibility, so I just went ahead and upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (just been released a few hours ago), and now the EVE Client isn't launching.
The EVE Online Launcher (v.2.1.613956) opens fine, and I can log in, but when I click PLAY, it says LAUNCHING... but nothing else happens. A few seconds later it changes back to PLAY again. The second icon doesn't even appear in the Dock.
Any ideas?

Working ok for me. Has the mac finished the "optimising" process it goes through after starting for the first time? You could try right clicking in Finder and selecting open or temporarily change security settings to "Allow all apps" to see if that's the problem. |

2 Days ago there was a Tweet that CCP was not yet supporting 10.9 as it was not yet out.
I doubt things have changed much in those 2 days, except 10.9 got released.
At the moment the Mac client works best with 10.7. If you can; revert. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

I tried switching the Security settings. No joy.
I also tried Repair Permissions and rebooted. Still no joy.
What I did notice is that, using Activity Monitor, I can see that there's multiple instances of "EVE Online" running - they're not Not Responding though. No doubt the countless times I clicked the PLAY button - but they aren't showing up in the Dock and there's no client window. If I Quit them, they just disappear from the list. |

I upgraded to 10.9 today. I saw a slight lag in starting up EVE after hitting play. After that, game started up fine. Seemed to run smoother then i remember. Big thing to check, is ur launcher settings i think + your preferences when it comes to their party apps. I don't code, but I have a number of "extra" developer systems on my iMac then a normal stock build.
Macports helps make sure your python and other code bases re up to date on your Mac. If you have any questions, I'm pretty good at figuring things out...
(If I understand right. EVE is built on python. So Macports and Excode help with packages in the python family.) xoxo Amarisen Gream

I've never had any problem with probes in 10.8, so that's not a reliable indicator. Proud founder and member of the Belligerent Desirables. |

Did a bit of sleuthing and it looks like the "macdrv" Cider display driver isn't loading properly, and hence the client window isn't appearing, and why I see the client running in Activity Monitor.
Would have appreciated more of a public warning about not upgrading to Mavericks. Not even a sticky post on the forum? I know you guys mentioned they said it on Twitter (where? I didn't ever see a Tweet about it!) and at Vegas (I wasn't there). Not very helpful. Alas. I'm only a month into my account, so this is a big downer on my play time. Looks like I either have the choice of playing it via Parallels - laggy, slow mouse responsiveness, takes ages to jump, etc. or try and downgrade. Not looking forward to that, as I have a lot of audio software/plugins to reinstall.
For anyone who wants to risk upgrading: Make sure you create a Time Capsule backup beforehand!
I've followed the Mac Bug Reporting page and filed a full report. But if anyone has any ideas in the meantime... here's some of the output...

On my couple years old Macbook pro running Mavericks EVE launcher without problem, but an old issue with dropping FPS has returned! Every 5-10 sec framerate drops dramatically for a second. This is specially rough when dual boxing. Would be nice to know if CCP plans to support Mavericks anytime soon? |

I upgraded to Mavericks last night. Upon reading this thread I was thinking, "Finally! Saved from wasting time playing meaningless games!"
But no. My four Tranquility clients launched just fine. My Singularity client is patching. Everything is working. I am still a slave to New Eden
It might help if the people with problems report what hardware they're working on, and check that you've quit all the EVE applications and associated wineserver processes. Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

I didn't realize it was Mavericks, so I re-downloaded the client and am now told that the Client is "Damaged, and should be put in the Trash". |

Hi, I'm the one that actually tweeted about 10.9 not working. Original Tweet Followup Tweet
I had already submitted a bug report to not only CCP, but also to transgaming.
I still cannot open the game on my rMBP.

Hi there, I got the same pb with macOS 10.9. It seams to be a pb with not native resolution of screen. I play with a much better resolution. I found the solution here : https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=141800
Quote:I have to go back to 'best for retina' under system preferences -> display then apply, launch eve, leave fullscreen and enter windowed mode, then bump my resolution back up.
It works for me. Good luck |

I FIXED IT!
The suggestion for the Retina display issue lead me to deleting the entire EVE Online folder from ~/Library/Application Support/ and that seems to have made it work again. Huge relief. Thanks for the suggestions. |

This causes it to re-run the intro for me, but it still doesn't display the actual game window. I can hear the intro running, though. |

Did you try Caius Eto's suggestion above? Someone in the thread he linked to described exactly the same symptoms, hearing the sound but not seeing the window. Give it a go. Good luck! |

This worked for me. I had the issue where i could hear the intro cinematic but otherwise had no indication that the game was running other than an extra icon in the dock. Once in game I changed the in game resolution to 1650x1050 and changed my laptop settings back to scaled with the more space preference. The game now launches fine. I don't know if changing the in game resolution had any impact on it. |

Personally, I found it works not any worse or better than 10.8.
The only issue (and it's a sizable one) is that voice doesn't work anymore.
Anyone has any solution for that? And please, don't say "use TS or mumble" or an equivalent ;) |

Not experiencing that issue here. Seems to work ok. In fact, the client has been a lot more stable overall since upgrading. I do get occasional sound stuttering, but I think that's because I've got resource caching enabled? |

When i started EVE Launcher at first on my new MBR'13 i only got the sound thru and the app did not show up on the screen, so i changed the resolution to "whats the best for retina" and it worked, and it does now work on the highest resolution. Future Delay Thinking |

I'm now having a similar problem. Client will appear prompting me to log in. I click the "play" button and.....nothing. The button switches to launching, only to cycle back to play after a minute or so. It looks like it's doing something as the program appears in the dock, but, still no game. I've looked through my display settings, etc. Adjusted them all the way to the lowest resolution, to no avail. I can't find the library files people have mentioned, nor do I see any reference to wine server in any of the logs.
Additionally, after I attempt to log in to the game and quit the client, EVE continues to run. The icon remains in the dock and in order to restart my system I have to force quit the app. I should add this was a problem I had with OS X 10.7.5. In the past a restart would clear up the problem, not now. Thinking it was an OS problem I upgraded to Mavericks (DUMB).
I'm using a 2009-ish Mac Pro. OS X Mavericks dual quad 2.26 mhz chips. 8 gig of ram and a Radeon HD 4870 with 512 mb. Display is an Apple 30 inch HD monitor.
I should also add...I have removed and reinstalled EVE three times, and run the repair app sent to me by EVE. Now, I am, apparently, in the purgatory they call technical support. Radio silence. |

Hi Cyrus,
Just a quick note. The 'library' folder is hidden in Mavericks, and 10.7/10.8 for that matter.
To reveal it in Mavericks, open finder, click on your username under 'favourites', and you should be faced with a list of folders attached to your user account. Alternatively, press CMD+Shift+H to be taken to it. Now click 'View' from the menu bar at top of screen, and select 'show view options' from the drop down list. In the popup window, check 'show library folder'.
The library folder should now appear in your user folder, but you may need to rearrange icons to reveal it.
Open this to find the 'Application Support' folder, and in that you will find the 'EVE Online' folder.
If you want to completely reset everything for your EVE client, move this folder to the trash. Renaming the folder also works if you want to keep it, just in case.
If the client is still running and your cannot close it, try clicking the Apple symbol top left of your screen, and selecting 'Force Quit' from the drop down menu. You should be able to terminate the EVE client form their without having to restart.
Hope that helps. |

I've been looking into this and cannot reproduce this on a Mac Pro.
Are there still people affected by this, and if so, can you tell me what system you are using it on?
If you are still affected, can you please submit a bug report, attach a system profiler report, and log files as per the Mac Bug Reporting page here.
Thanks
