Edited by: Threv Echandari on 02/02/2006 21:15:37 Can We get a dev to weigh in on this? Other Players have discussed this in another Thread and there seems to be a disagreement from players who have "tested" it
If you put your stuff in Secure Can and then put that in your hold can someone see the contents of the can?
If they can is this by design or a bug?
On a related note if the Cargo scanner can't see whats inside....does this apply to Customs agents as well?
*Edits for spillng**

Ok If the Devs or others can't respond (Which is likely considering that they other important things to do, ITs back to player experience what have you all found out?

Sigma,
uhm I don't see a problem with trying this on your own. I mean, you could even put a frig with a secure can in cargo in a safespot and come back in another with a scanner.
Oh and if you want to argue that you're gonna waste a shuttle why not do that on the test server?
I mean come on, you're gonna wait an hour for someone to answer a question you can have answered in five minutes all on your own? And then you TRUST their answer? EVE Forums are famous for their vicious PvP.
On a related note, I wish there were fewer threads with "CCP", "GM", "Dev" or "Mod" in the topic.

Edited by: Mnengli Noiliffe on 03/02/2006 18:25:40 Just checked it. You see everything that is in cargo hold except the cans. You also see everything inside the cans. Whether they're secure or standard cans, does not matter. End of story.
(edit) I used PL-O Shipment Probe form a Helios btw.

Ok, I tested it as well. It sees everything, witht he exception of cans. When someone told me before that this was the case I did not believe him. I am so used the old ways when you COULD NOT see what was inside the cans.
One question remains - WHEN did this change occur, and why werent we notified? This must have slipped under the radar. Most people will remember, it used to be that contents of cargo containers inside the ships were NOT visible under the scan. I guess it definatley calls for new tactics.

From a realistic/roleplay view..
If you can scan through the entire shield, armor and hull of a ship but can't scan into a continer inside the hold that's kinda messed up.
Truth is... stuff located inside cans in your cargo hold can be seen via cargo scanners. I'm not sure how long it's been this way but I tested it out myself a while ago and that's the case. The best way to protect yourself from this is to make sure you can't be targeted at all. I.E. Stealth, cov-ops, insta jumps etc.
I'm glad it's that way actually. A bit more realistic.

What if I stuff a shuttle full of T2 PBOs and then put the shuttle in an Indy, what do you see when you scan me?

Don't you have to repackage the item for shipping? Repackaging will dump the cargo contents into your hangar.

Nice try Glimmer, but you can't put stuff in a cargo hold in a ship and then put that ship in another cargo hold w/o repackege.
BTW, for those who tested this..did you do it with your OWN character? IE, You parked a friggie with the cans and gear at a moon, then jumped in another ship and checked and you could see it?
I think it needs to be tested with someone NOT in your Corp, and NOT you. If you have done this, please specify. -------------

Me in newb corp checked an indy alt in the other newb corp, using two clients running. Pretty accurate imo :)

can't you set a courier mission for yourself and the mods will then be packaged and packages cannot be scanned?
