Edited by: Sanguinous Rex on 03/02/2006 00:29:36 I have a question for the Eve Online vets... I realize that stats equal time, so I was curious if I need to remake my character or just forge on ahead.
I have a very high Willpower, which is good for combat-related skills, but my character will both be roleplaying and actively BEING a leader, so I am planning on studying the leadership skills. However, it seems more then 1/2 the leadership skills have Charisma as a primary attribute. That wouldn't be all that terrible, except for the fact that my charisma...
... is 5. Yes, 5 - and that's with +2 points in it from Empathy! As you know, the Amarr race (for whatever reason) start with a 3 in Charisma, and as this was my first character, I decided to "roleplay" his strengths/weaknesses, not realizing that the attributes affect the learning time (with Empathy at Rank 5 it would be 8 Charisma).
All the leadership skills are either willpower/charisma or charisma/willpower... like I said I have a *very* high Willpower but then an absolutely terrible Charisma.
I suppose my question is... is remaking my character and losing the time I've put into him worth it? Or should I grin and bear it, because a lot of people say that Charisma isn't the most important attribute?

3 base charisma... bit low, but get your learning skills up and get a +3 or 4 charisma implant. with +3 implant and +9 from learning and level 4 learning skills you'll end up with 16.2 charisma(or 16.5 if you have learning 5) if your will is as high as I think it is (10-13 base) then 16 charisma is not that bad. dont know how much time you've put into training allready, but if youre a few months in game allready i'd say jsut up the learning skills, grab an implant and move on.
and for a lot of people saying charisma isnt msot important, it is the least used ability for skills, but that does *not* mean it is the least important skill. specialy not if you plan on raising leadership/corp managment skills a lot.

Depends on how long youve been playing. Unless you have 2 accounts you should always go for balanced attributes. You will find in your roleplaying that although rp'ing a leader, the leadership skills dont really have anything to do with that. They have to do with gang warfare.

I have a base 3 or 4 Charisma and high Will. You should be fine with leadership skills. The high Will helps to counter the low Charisma very well.

Ah, excellent... that's what I wanted to know, its good to know there are some out there in the same boat. Yeah, I was hoping that high Willpower would help in countering it.

Even if you're going to be doing a lot of leadership skills, I still say Charisma is the least important attrib. Base 3 is fine, and can still make it as high as 19.8 with maxed skills and a +5 implant. ---

to be honest, base of 3, learning skill of 5 and adv to 4 gives you 12, which isnt so bad, add an implant for another boost and you are up to 14-16.
not quite as bad as you made out ;)
and we cant help it if amarrians are a bunch of miserable unsocial muppets :)

Yeah. Last I check escrow, +4 cha's were going for 70mil. Add that to 9 points of getting advanced charisma lvl4, and your 10% from learning 5 and you have
3+4+9= 16 +10% = 17.6 --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

What they said.
Sad as it is, even if you train leadership skills for a few months with a relatively sucky charisma, your other attributes will pay off in the long run whereas if you started a character the other way around, you'd be fast in training them but gimped for the rest.
