Is this possible?
My Mackinaw will be ready in twenty days, and I'm wondering if I'll need to train Mining Upgrades to level 5 from its current level 4 (17 days) in order to fit two mining upgrade thingys.
I'm planning on running a basic setup with two ice miner I's, whatever in mid, and two ice harvester upgrade I's in low.
Will this fit?
Please tell me I don't need to train mining upgrades to five. I just finished Exhumers 5 and would love to train something other than mining...

But Mining Upgrades skill is broken and Ice Miners actually increase you'r cycle time. So no use fittign them.

The Ice upgrades lowslot reduce the ice harvesting cycle, at least they did recently when we were using them.

I'm using my Mackinaw with 2 ice harvester upgrades. It is not true that u need mining upgrades lvl4, I only have lvl2 so far and i can fit them. Harvesters take about 71 CPU each, + 30 for each upgrade, so u'll have about 202 CPU on 225 available.
For 0.5 ice mining I can tank rats with NOTHING in med slots, and I fit 2 harvesters and 2 upgrades.
I have electronics at lvl4 only, so u should have no problems in doing this setup.

What drones do you use to keep the rats off of you?

Yeah, well, when I heard about the new barges coming out, I got all excited and decided I'd get me a Hulk, so I decided to start training right away. Little did I know that there'd be a five thousand percent markup from it's list price of 12 mil and a backlog of two months to get one.
So I'm setting my sights a little lower and buying myself an ice miner.
Another question about the Mackinaw:
It's special ability grants 100% bonus Ice Harvester yield but 25% penalty to ice harvester duration. Does this mean it harvests two blocks at a time per laser, but it takes 10 minutes a cycle instead of the usual 8?

500mil is a tad steap but if my agent gave me the bpo id probibly charge the same.. Id be willing to pay 200mil for one given the potential to make that back very quickly mining some stuff like ark or bistot in 0.0.
They look like they could tank most 0.0. spawns quite easily which is the only reason i havnt trained for the T1 barge's because in 0.0 its far safer to use an Apoc.

Just looked at my Mackinaw with 2 ice harveter upgrades - every ice harvester takes 406.13 sec per cycle...

But what about the output? I'm trying to figure out what the 100% bonus to Ive Harvester Yield means. Does yours deliver two blocks every 406 seconds or just one per laser?

Yes, each harvester deliver 2 units of ice, so, every 406.13 sec i have 4 ice units

Four blocks every 6-2/3 minutes instead of three blocks every eight? Sold!
That's great news, VodkaMan.
And thanks for the tip on the skills. I have exhumers 5 (30 days of pain that was!), but only have Ice Harvesting 4. I'm gonna get on that training right now.

Has anyone calculated how much ISK per hour you can make with Exhumers 5, Ice Mining 5 and 2 Mining Upgrades installed?
