Other than Titans and maybe the command ships is there any ships that are generally better that Battleships? I am looking for something better than the Raven...but i cannot find something that excites me as much as 6 torps/2 turrets and a nice solid shield.
Answers on a postcard please!

I'm thinking AF, HAC, lots of t2 stuff
oh and a dreadnought ofc. And a carrier for that matter. Join AC DC now! Communist experimental alt corp, looking for alts to join in this new and social experiment. |

A Faction BS? eg Caldari Navy Raven (CNR) with 7 torp launchers 1 turret or perhaps a Dreadnaught, or a Carrier.

Edited by: Equinox II on 03/02/2006 11:50:19 Better for what? Mining? PvE? PvP? Hanging outside the stations in Jita? etc?
Like, a Dread is awesome for pounding on POSes.. Command ships are uber in fleets because of their leadership bonuses.. Etc.. etc.. they all got roles that they are better than other ships at.. So what do you plan to do with yours? :)
CCP Hammer > Next patch we will make sure to boost Amarr and Nerf Caldari. |

Hired goon says, dreadnoughts are not the be all and end all as they can't hit small angry bees. Carriers however, seem to be able to. -omg-

AF's ???? to kill a BS ???? better think in a bunch of them (5 or 6 at least) and they MIGHT kill the BS ... Ofc if the BS is well fitted ...
Just dont know why people tend to say that BS suux, yes they are slow ... but when you are trying to conquer systems, and going to fleet battles, they are the kings of the Battlefield ... they are the Primary targets and the dreads just dont go anywhere without a big cloud of BS in support...
In a 1vs1 the BS will win to every kind of ship in the game, except of course other BS (dont want to mention here the 1b isks ships or more). Most probably the ship that will finally take the place of the BS in Battlefield will be the carrier, but a price of a carrier compared with the price of a BS ....
If you see in a alliance channel fleet of 5 intys everybody is looking for the gang to wipe him out... if you see fleet of 5 BS ... everybody will be much more cautious ...

In my experience you need the right tool for the job. Killing frigs in a BS is just rubbish. In the same way tanking BS damage in a frigate will not last long
In general my faveourite ships are AF, HAC, Covert-ops, Ceptors. All tech 2 and specialised but all good fun

Talking about the usual BS setup ... 5 heavy weapons + 2 medium + whatever (Nos or Neutralizer) and the drones ... Not the fleet setups with uber damage and uber targeting range

You've won Eve now. First dibs on your Raven when you leave to win another game, mmkay?
On a more serious note, I'd like to know what you define as "a better kind of ship". Don't tell me you're looking for the "I Win" button.

Go for t2 stuff, they are expensive, but their specialised role makes them much more fun. As for AFs killing a BS,you just need to assign your limited medslots carefully.
I was in a wolf with AB and a target painter,a mate was in another wolf with a sensor booster and 20k scrambler, and one more in a retribution with a web. We took down a plated armageddon in 0.0 pre-RMR with just these 3 AF's. The armageddon had heavy nos and drones so me and another guy had to warp out and back in once, but we finally managed to kill him about 500m before he reached jump range (he stopped aggressing at some point close to the gate so he could jump). Needless to say it was a nice fight and took a while.
With the new tanking changes in RMR it will of course take longer so probably the number proposed (5-6) is correct, but it is definitely doable.

Shuttles are much better
It takes me ages to transport 1 or 2 reports 20 jumps in my BS.

What you got stuck up your but on this fine day! Just looking to open up my skills and fly a different ship that is better than a BS in PvP solo. I had a look at carriers/dreds and HAS but just wanted to know what everyones opinions were! Not looking for the 'I win button' but the 'lets have some more fun button'. Clearly you are some 14teen year old who has played this game too long and know the gargon but has issues with his own identity to say something relativly nice!

Ouch, didn't mean it like that. Well anyhow, the answer to your question is Interceptors and terraforming. Interceptors because they are fun, and terraforming because it is the answer to "what is the meaning of life?". What can possibly be grander than that?

Thanks, lol. I hope to try your suggestion over the weekend!
Might even tank up my pod and find a nice location in 0.0 to go afk for a few hours...

Well, now that you've qualified the "what's better" question, it's much easier to answer...
BSs are very powerful and sure there's a fun element, but the fun level increases when you get into AFs and HACs. Ok, so they probably couldn't take the BS 1v1, but you're looking for more fun, rather than more firepower, so...
Personally I've flown the Harpy, Enyo, Hawk, Ishkur, Deimos & Ishtar and find them all more fun & challenging than BSs. Still fly a BS when I need to, but it doesn't get my blood pumping the way other ships can atm...

If fun is what you are looking for.. go to AF's ... The Hac's should provide you more fun untill you loose the first one
