Edited by: Gerbil Intaki on 03/02/2006 12:35:02 ok so there have been several people asking about queue sytems for skills or some way not to waste time. This is an idea I had its not fully thought through yet so feedback is appreciated.
So after a bit of thought I thought how about just generating skill points at a set rate and then spending you accumulated skill points on a skill (either partially or fully). the Skill point cost would depend on your stats at the time and the number of skill points you could store would be dependant on something (current ideas are your clone or stats ?). Once Skill points are spent there are no ways to get a refund.
This way idle time you have between skills when you are at work or asleep will not get lost.
Good ? Bad? Lost the plot ? Dropped the Ball ?

the other possibility, the one that is and will always be there is...*drumroll*
LOG IN AND CHANGE IT.
I don't know, take 10 mins and you can plan your skill changed good enough so that you change them whenever you can. As usual, when you're going to work/school/sleep just switch to a long skill, when you're on the pc train several "small" skills.
Planning your skills is just another skill in this game, but don't look for it on market

This is a fairly commenly mentioned idea, and one that is also covered in the ever-popular (locked) thread: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=230187

i think this system is quite unrealisic, the current learning system is based on real life learning, there is nothing realisic about gathering skillpoints and using them on skills, thats like a medium between WOW and EVE, story but I don't sign this. no thanks, I might like it if you could set an option that will automaticly reactivate your current skill when its done, if its not at lvl 5 yet, than that system, no offence.

the current system is based on information being downloaded in to your brain which is quite unrealistic (currently). Also its not a Queue and its not a website based system that is the common post ideas that Tripoli's "FAQ" seems to cover. It would be hard to set people to train AFK since you would be limited on how many SP you can have (based on your stats) so you would still have to log in regularly in order to spend your stored skill points (for long skills you would have to log in more regularly)
lets say for every stat point you have you can store 500 Skill points (as potential) that means that someone with starting stats would have alot less "potential" than someone with maxed out stats.
Since this would cover those akward skills which are too long for play time but waste a load of time for work/sleep time. "4 hour" skills are a prime example of this.
