Last night a player had opened and took ore from one of my corp mates. He was blinking red to all that were in the belt. Question is: When a person takes ore from a can in a belt does everyone in corp have Kill Rights to kill him or ONLY the person that jettisoned that can? Im still confused on Kill Rights and need help understanding since I dont wanna get ganked my Concord for a misunderstanding. I need to know everything about Kill Rights and Ore Thiefs, Thanks.

The person who took the ore is "flagged" to you, your corp and gang for 15 minutes. During that time, anybody who sees him flashing red has the ability to shoot first. Keep in mind however, that once that person does shoot the ore thief the ore thief can return fire on that person. Often the result is stealing ore hoping that some miner will get trigger happy and take on a well equipped ship.

The Ore thief was in a cyclone and I was standing by in my raven... I wish i would have taught him a lesson. If I would have attacked him could his corp mates or gang come to the belt and fire at me since I fired apon him and killed him? Is it legal for me to pod him?

Nope. Just ship destruction on ore thieves.

If it's any consolation, he was probably ore-thieving in a Cyclone because he wanted you to fire on him. Nobody ore-thieves in a Cyclone, it has a crap cargo-hold. I'm betting it was jumped-up with ECM or something to take you down with. ___

But can his corp or gang mates help him in any sort of way if we begin to fire apon his weak cyclone?

Edited by: Quanteeri on 03/02/2006 14:42:13 Not 100% sure, but I think they can, if you agro him. To my understanding, the flagging and killright only prevents Concord from intervening in the dispute. If you choose to avenge your ore, then; "All is fair in Love and War."
It might be a good idea, in the future, to have at least one of the (mining) ships in your fleet to equip a ship scanner, that way you don't sit staring at a ship all night wondering if you can pop him before his buddies show up.
Also, becoming proficient with the system scanner will award you with the knowledge of his potential buddies, ships and capabilities.

What do you mean by 'Agro' them? Does anyone else have a clue if Corp/Gang mates can help the ore thief shoot back at us if our Corp decides he must be destroyed?

Yes I already know this, please read my last question above. I need to know if his corp/gang mates can help him if we decide to attack the thief for looting our ore. Thanks.

His corp/gangmates cannot help him if you are not freely attackable by them (ie if you took from their cans or are at war).

Yes you can shoot him, yes anyone who sees him blinking red can shoot him, yes he can shoot back, no you can NOT pod him, and no his gang/corp can NOT attack you, since it is legal action for you to be shooting him, but not for them to shoot you. Thats for ore thieving.
Killrights: You get killed and never fired back, you can kill them, or try to, anywhere and they can NOT return fire (in 0.5+ only does this apply).
Anymore questions?

About killrights. You mean podkilled? Is that podkilled anywhere in 0.1 to 1.0 or inly 0.5+? Then you may shoot their ship. How about their pod? You say you only get killrights if you haven't fired at te attacker while he was killing you?
