Just wondering what others do while mining. Being a new player I am usually in a safe place so I read the forums. I am sure it's a little different if you are in low sec.

I bang my face against the wall until I see something that looks remotely interesting.
Mining is boring :(, but in low sec you can't do other things due to the chance of hostiles.

Do it with corp mates or have a laptop/other computer near you to play another game on.

Get old, cheap laptop.
Put next to computer, use crossover network cable to plug it into your main machine, so it can access the disk drive.
Watch movies/anime/whatever.
I don't mine but I do this all the time... sometimes even when PvPing or the like

I play another MMO on another PC. Sounds odd, but it works :) Or you can read a book. This is a surpriseingly good way to do it. Or for those LOOOOOoooonnnngggg trade runs.
Or do like I do. I read 2 MMO's Message boards. keeps me up to date. :)

Use window mode. You can use forums or web browse when mining or pvping.

I take power naps when im really tired (mining ice, put a alarm clock withing each cycle). Or you can watch star trek, read forums, study.

I tend to use the time to get further acquainted with my DS. Mining asteroids/hauling ore while fishing in Animal Crossing: Wild World... I never would've thought I could grind in two games simultaneously before.

I upload market prices with the MarketUploader from eve-central. I also chat on IRC with clanmates and surf around. Usually with FireFox StumbleUpon plugin.

My second account, my combat char hunts the belts and protects this char from .2 spawns as I mine in the barge. And I trade around high sec with my 3rd account. And if I still have time to burn I usually have a game of Master Of Orion 2 or 3 running on my backup PC.

I usually play my main while the "alt" mines. Though, sometimes my main runs combat air patrol in her Raven to protect the miner. When that's the case, I play WoW or watch TV.

i change the size of my internet browser, so i can see chat (left), and overview / cargo (right) which lets me brouse the forums while mining in 0.0

Play some DS (you haven't beaten fusion!), watch some TV, or run in windows and minimize it. I usually do the windows thing. Also, how do you use the EVE-poker doohicky? I can't log in or create an account.

Chat with gang and or members of corp.
Play in windowed mode with browser over game view so I can watch action and respond to any possible threats.
Do some work in Photoshop while switching back and forth to EVE.

on the rare occasion I mine
watch tv / movies
do funky things to the other pc's on the network(my daughter's, my sister's(she's about to be for sale on ebay too, damn pita had to come back from Germany early and not wait for school so I have to put up with her while our mother is still in Germany))
play adventure quest/battleon(web based craptastic rpg) on my 2nd pc
surf the web(some sites pass the time well like mcstories.com & chyoo.com)
annoy the hell out of alliance chat, till someone offers me something better to do(this doesn't work so well at 3am, as they are all sleeping... damn weaklings)

I stare at my cargo hold, counting each chunk of ore as they come in, and giving them names.
Sometimes I just gaze hypnotically at my mining laser beams.
Other times, just for a bit of a change, I orbit the roid in a different direction.

Dual monitors and run Eve in Windows mode.
Start listening to Audio Books.
Join the Eve-Radio channel and chat.
Remote into the HTPC and watch stuff on my TV.

Very good suggestions here. I wanted to add another one. Since the forums are filled with many good post and there is no way I can remember it all, I have started printing out the ones that contain info I can use.
Just three hole punch the printed pages and you have a personalized copy of info that pertains to your career, ship or training.
This will work until I get my laptop hooked up.

I've discovered how to double my mining pleasure: Drill Dozer for the GBA. I can drill for ISK while simulatenously drilling for wacky platforming antics! Woo!

I live in a One room studio type barracks apartment. Since my room is always a mess, I have plenty of time to clean it inbetween droping off cargo and returning to the field.
Also have my TV and PS2 right beside me so I can watch Cable or Family Guy/Scrubs on DVD.
