Just morbid curiosity but what would be a super cool sportbike? I was thinking the Ducati 848 Evo but I learned that they have awful low end torque so that's out... I'm not interested in track.
Honda CBR600RR? hondas good build quality bit boring to ride imo (they made it too good). test ride the lot before you buy. treat them all with some respect. trackdays can be fun so never discount it. any 600 needs to be kept wound up to really get the best out of it so unless you ride like a tit on the road your never going to get the best out of the bike. keep away from ducatis, posers bike. not every time but mostly.

I want a Ducati Streetfighter.... I'm not a poser, I just think it'll go with my helmet
You can tell I'm not a poser because my bike has an angelic glow
HAHAHA I used my masterful Paint skills to hide my license plate! Not sure why.....

I didn't want to create a quotenaught, so:
This will be my next bike. All it needs is taller handle bars. Hangers for the win!!!
Also, the Bell Rogue helmet is awesome.
Lastly, I really do like sport bikes. They are just so light and nimble compared to the bikes I've had. Only problem, is my back doesn't like them as much. I did ride a BMW R1200 in Europe last year. That was a pretty fun and comfortable.

I first learned to ride on a brand new 1991 Kawasaki ZZR-250 and then i went on to the Yahama CBR 1000F. Finally, i rode a ZZR-1100 with a big airbox and high compression pistons.
This was when i realized that the bike was always going to be faster then i could go mentally. After taking a b-line at 180kph on a curve in the freeway and sling-shotting to the outside lane, nearly hitting the center barrier, it was then that i started riding tourers.
Now i ride the Honda ST 1300.

Suffice to say that incident woke me up a lot.
I did a lot of riding courses over the years because they were fun to do, but at the end of the day the new crotch rockets were always going to beat me.
I don't know if it ever happened to anyone else, but when you get a fast bike, you "take your brain out before you put your helmet on." All you want to do is get on the thing and go sheer mental. After that scare i realized that i had pretty much hit my limits and the bike had even more to give. So i switched to something that i can't kill myself on tbh. (figuratively speaking) I don't feel as tempted to try and race the crotch rocket guys anymore.
Also, i'm getting old! lol

2000 Honda Shadow 750. It was my first bike and I mainly ride it during the spring to fall months, stopping the insurance for the winter because it's cold as **** in northern Italy. The other months are worth it due to the amazingly beautiful scenery here...at least when it's not raining.
I want a Triumph, though...namely a Thunderbird. Too expensive right now, however. Harleys are just overrated, imo. Sure, they're nice looking (some of them) but the amount of upkeep needed isn't worth the price tag, and let's face it: you're buying a name, that's all. I like to ride, not pose at rallies. |

This.
I've ridden bikes, dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and (I'm showing my age here) three-wheelers since I was a kid. When I first got on a crotch rocket, I realized immediately that my life would come to an end very soon if I continued to ride them. You just want to go faster and faster and faster, even if at first you're quite careful. Once you get used to the bike, you start to push the envelope but the problem is that envelope is extremely fast and dangerous and, like you said, you may have reached your limits but the bike hasn't, and that curiosity will literally kill you.
Choosing a bike is like dieting; if you remove all the unhealthy **** from your cabinets and fridge and replace it with food that is good for you (or at the very least won't kill you), you're going to lead a healthier life because although that temptation is always there, you aren't able to partake in it. |

lowside in jeans and a t shirt and no gloves and an open face. he's doing a fair lick too. hope he got off quite lucky is all i'll say. had a good look round the motorcycle show in birmingham on saturday and a couple of the harleys caught my eye. must be getting old
I sat on the triumph daytona 675R and booked a testride, wow that bike is so comfortable to sit "in" everything just fells right, down to the way the tank hooks onto your knee. so thin too unlike me . down sides from what i could see it's not going to be easy to rip off it's road clothes to get it set up for track, i could prolly throw my road fairings/subframe/brackets/lights etc back on my gsxr in and hour or two if needed. the triumph looks like an epic all day job. |

have skied quite a lot up in northen italy over a many number of years (much prefer you italians than some other euro nationalities, great food too. namley the rude arrogant rip off french, shouldnt generalize i know beacuse i know a few frenchies and they can be great.), beatiful area of the world and been meaning to get over there in summer to ride the mountain roads but other things got in the way. just got a email about a trackday at mugello and that is one track i always wanted to do but it's right at the height of the uk trackday season though, also wondering what the track temp will be at the end of august! might skip the skiing this year or grab a cheapy at the end of the season.

im from the same type of background, when i was 19 i stopped riding bikes on the road. i knew that i would die if i carried on especially riding with mates. over here in the uk at least there is now a good selection of trackdays that while expensive are not prehibelativley so, so there is somewhere safer to explore what the bike can do.
the taking your brain out is what i call the red mist especially if someone passes you. the devil inside you takes over we as humans are genetically set at max comp mode, just have to know and reconginse that, control is key.
