Hi
I've been looking through my NPC database and noticed odd things about NPCs that have target painting and/or sensor dampening. It appears they don't seem to be doing anything (i.e. target painters that increase your sig. radius by 0%).
So my question is, have you encountered NPCs with the above effects and have they had an effect on your ship?
Thanks & Regards elFarto

Do you remember which NPC it was?

yes the damping is interesting, no log message, so no way of knowing who it is... FOF for the win i think

nothing to be worrie about: 1. only one ship will damp you or many at once but still with the same effect at all (30-40% damp strengh) 2. they only damp for 5 Seconds then 20-30seconds free time without interrupting 3. all ships who can damp, have also a weakness in tank and damage output

In my experience, Serpentis do damp range, but have a negligible effect on scan resolution. It could be because they have MWD on autorepeat, which negates their racial EW nicely.

I've had this happen more and more often now. Most recently on Guristas Strike when I went in to kill the BS's at the end. The dampening was very anoying and it took a lot longer to kill them because I kept losing the lock and only got a few missiles launched each time. The real dissapointment came when I opened the loot cans and found nothing but ammo -- some posts had said there were named large modules, but no joy and wasted lots and lots of missiles.

What I did notice with serpentis - other than Damps. Is their Guardian veterans frigates - when they activate their MWD they pop with 2 cruise missile hits. I can actually see them activate it and run for me - one or two at the time - I fire 2 Missiles and frigate goes pop. Much faster killing now that MWD affects them.

Yes also torpedos makes full damage if a small target active mwd, because their Signatur Radius will raise up to 5x. A usual npc frigate have a sig rad of 100, with mwd = 500 and while that, they're bigger than a battleship. But you also should care about the explosion velocity, this expV. should be faster than the speed of the target. So its also usefull for missileboat pilots to enable the signatur size in your overview... with better timing you can beat up spawn a lot faster...

As far as I can recall, it has always been the Vexor NPC's that damp me on level 3 Serpentis Extravaganza missions. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact name.
(Love the database, Elfarto, keep up the good work!)

for sure the serpentis sensor damp, i know my raven was dampend down to a lock range of 17km at one point... luckily there cycled finished and i could get a lock. (i think a few dampened me at once)
It is nice to see npc's using sensor dampners.
