Hi all,
I should be in position to actually fit cruises to a Hound tonight. I am curious with all the RMR changes where the 'state of the art' is now in stealth bomber land for fittings. I have seen comments on sensor dampeners being nerfed or buggy or what have you which have really changed what may or may not have been an ideal setup. I realize the hound is not going to be the uber SB due to only have 2 slots for cruises vs the 3 for the manticore(?).
Anyway, that said I am thinking will still be a fun ship, can use for some ratting I think and grouping with supportive ships for some pvp maybe.
So I was guessing:
1 improved cloak high 2 cruise missile type 1 high
2 sensor boosters mid 1 passive targeter mid 1 ecm multispectral jammer mid
1 micropower core low (assuming i need it) 1 cpu boost of some flavor (assuming i need it) 1 overdrive or one nano fiber structure
Anyway, I dont have the ship yet so will have to do some trial and error but please let me know any thoughts/hints/tips on where that may be clearly wrong.
Regards,

I don't think u need the MAPC or the CPU enhancer in low I would run something like this -2*best named cruise launcher/1*t2 cloaking -t2sensor booster/20km scram/sensor damp (phased muon is advisable, and not very expensive either) -2nano (do not use overdrives as they will decrease an allerady very poor manuv)/ 1BCU (or 2 BCU and 1 nano) If any fiting is left put some artys or soething in there

if you want to fit some arties, you will have to fit the MAPCs in the lows, and two of them i think. autocannons will work, and may be quite handy if you have web and scramble in mids, and choose your target carefully. otherwise i tend to fit offline remote armour repairer and nos in highs, to help wingmen in deep space operations. |

i have no experience with the hound, but on quickfit i found almost the same fitting like you two...
HI: 2 x Cruises (Malkuth or better) 1 x Improved Cloak II 2 x 125mm Autocannons II
Med: 1 x Sensor Booster II 1 x Phased Muon Sensor damper 1 x J5 Scrambler (20k)
Low: 2 x Ballistic Control II 1 x coProcessor II
0,91 Powergrid and 0,5 CPU left (Fits with adv. weapon upgrades 4).....

Thanks for the responses.
Yes, I do not know if I will need the mapc or cpu enhancer in low - I hope not. I do not plan on fitting any arty stuff, just the cruises. I believe I will use this mainly with a couple other stealth bombers so ideally we are talking 3 people come out of warp and all shoot at the same time to say goodbye to the target in one go. No point having arty there I don't think. Of course this could change and I don't know if I will like the more 'up close n personal' approach.
So the high slots are easy and we have consenus with 2 cruises and a cloak. I like that offline armor repairer Masu'di - having never really been on the receiving end of any pain being able to fix myself up without going to a station will be nice (I will be using this thing in 0.0 only I think). Lows also seem pretty standard with a combo of nano's and ballistic control units. I guess Adril you have a need for more cpu in your setup somehow in order to plunk in the co processor?
The mids though seem a bit more varied. Looks like a definite win for a phased muon sensor dampener and a sensor booster of whatever I can get fitted based on my skills - probably not a t2 one I am betting. What is the purpose of a J5 scrambler (20k)? An X5 web? I think I can see the web helping - slow down targets increases the damage but I am not so sure I want to be around for that long cause that means I will be taking damage (granted I should not be picking huge targets but for the start I plan on uh, picking off the weak ) A scrambler to stop them running away - and I need to be withing 20km; I can see that going bad on me. I was hoping to be more like 1000km away (seriously, 100+ anways).
Regards and thanks for what we have thus far,

You wont hit him from 100k. They cruises need to long time to travel the 100k, so he can easily warp away. You have to be at closer ranges. And you cant warp out or cloak before the cruises hit, as the will disappear and dont hit if you do this.
They basic idea behind a sensor damper is: You target him, sensor damp him so he needs more time to target you and has lower targeting range. and then you can scramble him if you are close enough and shot at him. If you have 2 - 3 stealth bombers it would be more efficient because you can damp him 3 times. So he has almost no targeting range and a very long lock time (if he dont have 1 - 2 sensor boosters fitted -_-). You can go inside 20k and scramble him if he cant lock you.

1 damp isnt enough if you're within 20km.
2 cruise 2 200mm
ecm scrambler web
whatever you need to make it fit/damage mods
I sit 10km off gates in 0.0 and gank intys and barges that come in at 15 and aproach. The locking time isnt that bad without a sensor booster and while an inty might lock you first you can normally jam him in time because you have to take into account the target's reaction time.

Here is a small gang setup you need to deliver the goods as many times as possible before you jump out or recloak. Your only job is to deliever the goods and get out.
HIGH-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 20 | 42] 'Malkuth' Cruise Launcher I > [ 20 | 42] 'Malkuth' Cruise Launcher I > [ 0 | 2] 125mm Gatling AutoCannon II > [ 0 | 2] 125mm Gatling AutoCannon II > [ 1 | 60] Improved Cloaking Device II
MED-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 0 | 34] V-M15 Braced Multispectral Shield Matrix > [ 0 | 34] V-M15 Braced Multispectral Shield Matrix > [ 1 | 6] F-b10 Nominal Capacitor Regenerator
LOW-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 1 | 0] Co-Processor II > [ 1 | 35] Ballistic Control System I > [ 1 | 35] Ballistic Control System I

Uh, Kaylana, shield hardeners? Am I not going to be dead right quick by the time I am relying on those? I guess this approach is the 'take a few hits but be able to' rather than 'not get targetted but if you get hit you are dead' approach?

Edited by: Aba Tor on 06/02/2006 15:27:20 U have to go close to ur enemy especialy if it's large enemy taht will not go down in one salvo of ur gang as otherwise he eill war away. In order to keep him there u use the 20 km scram. activation order: uncloak->sensor booster->target->dampen->cruises->scramble->cloak->uncloak->sensor booster->target->dampn->scram->cruise--w8 for scram cycle to begin again-->cloak->from the begining edit:bold stuff ... Aba Tor,
On the sequence you mention, what is the idea behind scrambling and then cloaking?
If I scramble you and cloak will the scramble not come off and away you go? And since I am cloaked I can't keep firing at you. So if I have not killed you, what is the point in scrambling you since I am either going to cloak to hide or want to WEB(?) you to slow you down from approaching me as opposed to scramble you?
If the scramble lasts a bit after I cloak and that then screws up any targetting you attempted to do in the meantime then I can see the cloak to get another round of shots after decloaking and having another volley - is that it?
I am specking things out - I am tight for cap first and grid second. I can get the 2 launchers, the cloak in highs. I can get a nano (or 2) and a bcu in my low. BUT in my mids I can fit a T1 dampener and a T1 booster. I can fit another booster in mids and would be tapped out I think.
Is it preferable to have more boosting or dampening?
I COULD get 2 dampeners I think if I paid up for the phased muons - they are 4mm isk each so before I commit I would want to be pretty sure as I have blown thru a lot of money of late kitting this out and trying to build up a t2 equipment business.
Any thoughts please before I got get my butt blown up - I am going to start with some rats!

Uhm, other stupid question, what about passive targetters? Does this allow me to warp, boost, passive lock, damp (maybe unless that causes a lock?), cruise missile, cloak?

If you start scrambling and cloak right after it, the scramble cycle would still be online. He can only warp away after the scramble cycle is done.
After shooting the cruises and scrambling you, you have about 10 seconds where you cant do anything. The only thing that can happen in this 10 seconds is that he gets a lock on you. If you cloak you can wait this time without getting locked. Right before the scramble cycle is done, you should uncloack, bring sensor booster online, target him, sensor dampening and scramble him. And then the cycle of the cruise launchers should be finished and you can shoot again.
I am not sure if i am correct, but thats the thing i read out of Aba Tor's posting.
And you should train your fitting skills. Electronics 5 and Engineering 5 are very important. Weapon Upgrades should also be trained and maybe Adv. Weapon Upgrades also. This would make fitting a lot easier.
And if you dont have the 4m for a named sensor damper, maybe the hound is a to expensive ship for you :)

Mmmm, thanks for that. Will have to try this out more. Unfortunately I was stuck trying to find rats to try out and they all insta pop in systems and target you so you cant try to cloak and sneak up. I don't want to try on people till I have a bit more basic experience at a minimum if not some time pounding on some corp mates.
And it isnt so much the 4mm, I can afford it. It is just that my primary occupation is trading and hauling so I am always asset rich and cash poor. When I think of 8mm in modules I also think of about 8mm in profits I will forgo by not having that cash around.
