hey everyone. I haven't found any manticore setups. Anyway... I was wonder if anyone could give me some useful information on what to place in the mids and low slots of the manticore (don't bother about highs I know what to put there hehe). I have a kinda idea but I'd like to know what anyone uses. It's for PvP obviously. and keep it real! No arguing and just tell me the facts baby.

Modules that are commonly fitted to manticores...
mids: ecm, damps, sensor boosters, cap mods, warp jammers
lows: BCUs, pg mods, nanofibres

in the two lows I'm thinking, 1 BCU 1 MAPC. mids - shield booster II, scrambler, webber, cap recharger
How's that smell?

You should use ew.
It's way to fragile to try and tank. Ew will avoid damage better and It'll also let you break target locks and recloak.

The sensor dampeners will be nearly useless against some one packing sensor boosters though, keep that in mind.

A Micro Auxiliary Power Core. Goes in a low slot and gives a flat 10MW bonus to the powergrid. It's pretty much required on the Manticore if you want to fit three launchers, unless you have Covert Ops 5.
For the Manticore, it all depends on how you're operating. If you're solo, ECM isn't a bad idea. The Manticore is too slow to run and too fragile to tank, so trying to recloak and fly away is your best bet.
If you're working as a team, target painters might be a good idea too. Two or three Manticores, each with target painters, should be able to tear through cruisers or even frigates like paper.

I love the manticore and have over 120 involvments (getting on or getting a killmail) resulting from my use of the ship. I use it solo and as part of a gang, and I have no problem de-cloaking in front of a large hostile force in order to pick off targets of opportunity in their gang. This ship has a unique level of effectiveness and survivabilty if you know how to use it.
Every single manticore build should start with two sensor boosters in the mid-slots. Seriously, they are the absolute most important thing you can fit. The range improvment is a nice bonus, but the real benifit is the lock-time reduction. With the boosters, you can have a target locked and cruise on the way before anyone can react. If you're close enough, you can then cloak before your cruise hit and they still will after you have cloaked. This is one of the best ways to use a bomber, as it can leave you pretty much free of any reprisal.
If you're a bit further away, just let the cruise sail in and let the other enemies target you. usually you can take a few rounds of fire, just always make sure you are aligned before you de-cloak to shoot. When your target is dead, either re-cloak or warp out and come back in from a different direction and then cloak so you can setup again.
So anyway, back to setups. Start with two sensor boosters, after that it pretty much setup for what you will be doing. If you're going to follow a fleet for many jumps, use a cap battery. If you are going solo ganking, get a 20km warp scrambler. Sensor dampners and passive targeters are always useful modules on a bomber. Each has properties that reduce the lock time of your targets meaning that you are more likley to be able to cloak after you fire since you haven't been targeted yet.
My favorite setup is two sensor boosters, a 20km scrambler, and a passive targeter in the mids. With this setup I can often get the podkill as well. In the lows I fit a nanofiber and a BCU. If you don't have sufficient skills, or you fit a cap battery, you will have to fit a MAPC in one of your lows. I feel that a nanofiber and a BCU make the best use of the Manti's strengths.

With Covert Ops at 5, and good skills fit:
Hi - 3x Cruise Launcher II, Improved Cloaking Device II Mid - 2x Sensor Booster II, Warp Scrambler, Webifier Low - 2 Nano fibers
Gives you the following:
Moving speed cloaked 440 m/s, insta locking after decloaking, interceptor takes 2 sec to lock, target range 210 km, hit range 152 km.
Use precision Cruise missles for Ceptors and you will *****em before they reach you (Manticore has bonus against small ships). Use fury missiles to do extra damage. One volley against an Iteron V takes it down to just 10% armor left.
Only annoying thing with the manticore is the slow warping speed and the tiny capacitor (max warp distance around 60-70 AU).

I sometimes mount a blaster, offlined of course as i dont even have 1 PG left to power it. I only do it because I like the way it looks. I'd fit a gun if could, but it's not really useful enough to merit losing any of the other gear. An offlined remote armor rep might be more useful to bomber group though.

Target painters don't do anything on a stealth bomber. The ship has a bonus vs. small targets and the cruise missiles will do full/nearful dammage against frigates already. The problem against frigates is speed not sig radius, if the frigate can get going 3+ km/sec your missiles won't be doing much dammage and a target painter won't do anything to help. A stealth bomber should be able to pop a T1 frigate and unplated interceptor in one volly anyway unless they're going too fast.

I just bought my manticore and i'm still new to this. Looking at ur guys setups...how did u get 3 cruise launchers on there? The fitting shows 1250MW for PG and my manticore only has 38MW for PG. I'm confused...

PG reduction on the ship. Its the one of the bombers bonus's. Just put them on and you will see. No one can hear you scream in space, so STFU and die already. |

Hmm just wondering, according to the item database the manticore has 5 high slots. Isn't there anything worth putting in that last slot? I keep seeing all these setups with 3 cruise launchers and a cloak, leaving 1 slot open. Or is is a typo in the item DB?

you dont have to fill all your slots. The main problem is if you are running tech 2 launchers (witch i do, i run precision cruise missiles... its sick against small ships with that) you dont have the pg/cpu to run anything there. plus nothing really is usefull to put up there except maybe a remote rep for gang work.

Would you even need sensor boosters if you used FoF cruise missiles? That would free up two (or 1 depending on the rest of your setup) mid slots.
Basically, I don't know how FoF cruises work but if they work the way I think they would eliminate the need for sensor boosters. Do they not allow you to fire one someone without even needing to lock them? So frigate of choice warps in at 15km and is making way to gate - decloak, fire 3 FoF cruises; bye bye frigate. End of story?

Eudoxus

FOF`s dont work that way ..... You need to be agroed by the other pilot before they start working....
In other words ...... You cant fire them unless you get fired / targeted....

Low: MAPC and nanofibers. Mid: sensor boosters, dampeners, maybe passive targeter
Anything else that you fit is pointless.
