I recently lost my Condor to a very tough level 2 mission and would like some advice on the best way to take these guys out. The mission involves a revenge kill and his 4 bodyguards. The problem is, the 4 bodyguards can target me from 40km and unleash Heavy Missles while I need to be at about 30km to lock them.
I have replaced my Condor with a Merlin setup:
2x 125mm rails (w/ Iridium S)
2x Malkuth Standard Launchers (w/ Bloodclaws)
1x shield booster
1x shield extender
1x shiled hardener (EM)
2x Power Diagnostic System
The problem is that my CAP keeps running out trying to charge my shields between the missle blasts. I still get hit super hard and cant stick around long enough to take out one of the bodyguards.
Should I switch to 2 hardeners instead of the extender?
Is there a better low slot to improve my CAP?
Is there a way to target them from 40km+? (I have long range targetting level 3)

Really think this is one of those missions you should take a cruiser on.
But.. I would recomend that you skip the extender and go for 2x em hardeners. After you blast the first dude it gets much, much easier. So after you pass that first hump you should be ok.

So this is how I can try to tank out the damage... What are your thoughts on trying to avoid their missles with a short/fast orbit (10-15km)? Would this be possible?

Not going to work. Missiles are fast enough you can't outrun them, and do no different damage at short range or long.

Thanks for saving my new Merlin. :) I'll go the tanking route. If I can just add enough resistance I won't have to use my shield charger as often and can keep my CAP up. That's my theory anyway...

What type of NPCs are you fighting? as EM hardeners might not be best.

I don't actually recall, but I looked up the Large Missles I'm being hit with and they do EM damage.
