As far as I know, it was an accident; but, the corp decided to follow through as any combat is valuble experience to our more recent wave of raw recruits. You fought well but in the end any damage you do is spread over 600 active members, each with deep pockets.
The morale of the individual corp member is inexhaustible and the money always flowing. Try as you will, goonfleet is not going to go down easily; you could get 30 or 50 times a greater kill amount than you did and we still won't bat an eye.
The goons are a brotherhood, we all help each other out, there is no love lost between any of us.

Am I the only one that thinks that GoonFleet would really like you to war dec them so that their members have targets? The Goons risk very little (small ships/clones) for the huge rewards of combat exp, T2 loot, and watching other people rant. And they don't even have to pay the war costs.
Goon CEO provoking war FTW!
