OK i have just spent 2 days training the skills to use these drones in the hope of being able to repair your own ship to have my hopes dashed to find u cant. i was relying on those drones to supliment my lack of tank on my ship but now it has been put on teh shelf to rot. i would like to be able to use the drones to armour repair myself but doesnt have to be the same stas as to repair someone else it could be 50% the normal armour repair per drone. just a sugestion but every little helps

I bought the skill just to have it in my collection and only trained it to level 1. I too thought that repair drones could be used on any ship including yours... but I haven't really checked. You're saying it's impossible ?
I figure it makes some sense... you use drones by sending them to attack a target (ships, roids...) but since you can't target yourself, how can you have the drones repair you ?
Maybe that's a design flaw ?
I've always thought drones were the best friend of solo pilots, but these drones my be for teams only. This suxx0rz.

wouldn't be hard to implement.. just when there in space u can right click on the m in your drones read and click repair me or self.. to have them repair u.. i don't see fitting them to help someone else u can fit dmg drones instead and just kill what ur tyring to tank faster.. but hey.. maybe CCP is trying to force group stuff i dunno... my 2 cents.. its most likely not worth 1

On the Drones there is an option called "set name" but i have no idea what this does and i have tested these drones out for different use's and imo they are only used for group ops which wasnt the reason i needed them. i needed them for solo work where i dont want to worry about having to use an armour rep cos my cap cannot keep up with it and use cap rechargers and boosters is not an option

I agree with you, Talia : in solo combat you might think it's better to deal more damage than tank a bit better.
But I suppose that depends on the drones : maybe the armor repair drones repair way more damage than a combat drone could inflict. Remember that NPC's tend to have lots more HP than players.
This is something that requires in-depth checking...

Arg. More agreement with Helen. This is not a good sign!
I had the same unpleasant discovery with shield boosting drones...you can't use them on yourself either.
Having had them used on me by a corp mate, I can confrim that they are VERY effective.
If they make them useable solo, they'll get nerfed. As such, I'd prefer they stay as they are...it's a nice bonus for those who fight in teams.

I want to use them solo but i dont want them nerfed in gangs so maybe dual stats for armour rep per drones the heavy armour rep drones are 120 armour rep per 10 seconds so maybe i could be 120 armour repaired per 15-20 seconds or even 60-80 armor repaired every 10 seconds.
The developers could do this any which way but please make them useable solo it helps us people who dont use tanks on thier ships.
just a small sugestion.

Having two accounts, myself, I tend to find the rep drones a nice toy to have around. True, they, currently, can not repair their mothership and that, in itself, sux.
However, there are times in a small gang that they can be useful. As I find it a little rough to try commanding 2 combat accounts on 2 different computers (even though they are right next to each other), I put one of my pilots in an Arbitrator - a very limited combat cruiser that can carry 75m3 drones. I have found that 3 or 4 medium shield drones can ALMOST tank 4 sentry guns inside a complex. Add either a shield booster on the combat ship or a shield transfer on the Arb and its pretty much a solid tank. The Arb, however, can carry 5 medium and 3(?) light drone, so if you make them ALL shield reps, you can have a pretty good shield tanker.
I'm just waiting for CCP to make it so a pilot not in a gang cant even fire their weapons... Not that I am against making friends, working as a team, or whatnot, I just hate the fact that they feel the need to FORCE me to do so. What are they, my MOTHER?
I feel any item that could have the ability to be used as a solo item SHOULD have that ability. There ARE some things designed specifically for team ops (ie gang modules, jump drives, etc) and that is fine. Drones, however, should NOT require a gang to be used. Mining drones don't, combat drones don't, so why should repair drones require a gang? Simply have them be 'on guard' when orbiting the mothership and repair damage as needed. Combat drones attack anything that fires at the mothership, let the rep drones fix any damage to the mothership :-/

It would make sense for repair (shield or armour) drones that are orbitting you to automatically repair you if you need it unless ordered to do something else.
It doesn't even need a new command that way.

Signed! I was hoping this would be a feature myself... and was dissapointed to find out they only worked on other targets. Please make this possible!
