Hi everone,
Got a question about freighters what they can and what they can`t do.
Is it possible to use your freighter as a transportship to pick up ORE from floating cargo containers when you are mining at the same time?
Heard a lot of different story`s about it.

No. A freighter can only load and unload items whilst docked at a station.

Are you sure of that because my ex-CEO is saying thats not true and want to use it as a transportship in a mining belt and pump it full with ORE.?
But i disagree with it and try to tell him that its not possible to station a freighter in a Astroid belt and load it full with ORE from the floating containers.

- They have NO module slots at all so you can't tank or fit cargo mods or nanos/wcs.
- They do have a shedload of shield, armour and structure.
- They are very very slow at both aligning and warping. They don't move to fast out of warp either.
- They cannot transfer cargo anywhere except inside a station or outpost (NOT at a pos). They can however anchor items in space, although they cannot pick up unanchored items.
- They cost around a bil, but can carry alot of cargo (anywhere from around 500k to just under a 1mil cubic metres.

If you could use a Freighter as an ore hauler for mining ops, don't you think the belts would be full of them?
They can't even jettison items whilst in space.
They don't drop loot when destroyed.
Simply put, Freighters are station to station transport ships and cannot do anything other than transport items from station A to station B.

Nice to hear im having it right again on this one. Thats why i left the Corp and start one by myself.
Not spending hours and days and weeks of mining to build a freighter to try to use it as an Transportship.
Going to invest all that time and ISK`s in my own Corp now.
