I've been playing Eve with the same PC / Network configuration for many months now, and all has been well until last weekend.
From Sunday night (4th Feb - this was when the problem first occured for me), and for every single day since, I have been suffering random disconnects which eventually result in me sitting in front of the initial EVE login screen with the message "Connection to the server lost.".
On first apperance, the frequency of disconnect does seem to become more frequent as the user count increases, but that may be coincidence.
This affects both of my PC's connected to EVE through a shared 2 meg ADSL connection. Without fail, both disconnect simultaneously. Now the weird part is that the modem remains in sync and doesn't disconnect. Indeed, I am able to reconnect immediately on both PC's and resume what I was doing just prior to the disconnect. No other web application or function suffers similarly, it seems to be unique to Eve.
Reading the forums, I see other people complaining of what I believe to be the same thing. I have started this thread as I believe this is the more appropriate forum to pursue this issue I and others are experiencing.
So am I alone in this, or are you also suffering random disconnects? If you are experiencing the same issue, please post to this thread, and petition it of course.
Peace.

Sorry to hear your troubles (but glad to know I'm not alone).
I thought this might have been connected to installing .Net 2.0 as it started pretty much right after that, but that was probably just coincidence. In any case, I'll petition when I get hom tonight.

Good to know it is not just me. I've very new and still stuggling to optimize my system to get decent performance from EVE. I thought I had done something strange or my provided was messing up.

I too have the same problem, crashes out frequently causing a lot of problems in risky situations. Any point in petitioning, has anyone got an answer yet?

Not a happy bunny!
I have just discovered that my ISP very quietly runs a traffic shaping program between the hours of 4pm and 12pm - i.e the very time frame I experience all these disconnects.
I now believe that this nasty piece of work is the reason for the disconnects I have been experiencing and that they (the disconnects) are completely unrelated to Eve.
For those of you having this same problem, I would suggest you look long and hard at your ISP to see if they also run a traffic shaping program.
Now all I have to do is get them to accept its their problem and not mine. Hope this helps.

I have a feeling my issue might be the same. I seemed to get more disconnects & lagouts than usual playing a FPS last night. Wouldn't happen to be Comcast in the Boston area by any chance, would it?

I started playing just over a week ago and I've had this problem the whole time. I've been playing other online games and I don't have any problems staying connected to them.
If it were constant, I would have stopped playing right away and not given it a second thought. But it's not. Sometimes I can play for six hours straight. Then some days, like today, I can't stay connected for more than three minutes.
I keep wanting to subscribe so I can finally get an industrial ship. Then I think, "Why should I pay for a game I can't always play?" This really is a fun game when it is playable. I hope something changes soon, I only have 5 days left on my free trial.

I've never had this problem but for the last two days I've had this happen to me.
Makes mining very frustrating if you are sat there waiting for a cycle to finish and you aren't even connected.
Don't seem to get it if I'm typing in corp chat or browsing market etc.

I have also experienced this behaviour from around the 4th.
First I thought it was my ISP but after fixing the errors with the isp my net connection works flawlessly for everything but EvE.
And then i got the same problem playing from my university where i know they don't limit traffic, since i know some of the admins.
So it seems to be a problem with eve or some routers on the way to the cluster.
But problem persists and makes everything from PvP to travelling impossible

I have been playing EVE for some time. I also have an account with WOW, D&D online, and EQ2. I don't have problems with any of the other online games, and they require greater connection sppeds. I am not sure what the issue is.

Glad to see that I'm not alone here..... I've been getting gradually more and more annoyed with all of these problems.
I know that very soon, a FLOCK of forum carebears will post with all the "it will be ok, CCP are working hard to fix it, leave them alone" trash, which I actually believed for a while. I'm sure it WILL be fixed eventually, but whilst I'm paying them real money to apparently play the game, I'm bound to get wound up by the "service" I'm paying for that isn't being delivered.
I've had the problem of getting booted for approx 3 months now and the LAG issue has made me log a few times after waiting about an hour just to dock in a system with less than 5 players.
STABLE SERVERS 4TW - but where are they? LoL
