Hi All
Just a quick question about evading incoming missiles and other such high speed nastiness..
Does the evasion rely solely on you evasion skill level or can you physically manouever your ship to evade the stuff that is being chucked at you?
Any hints gratefully received as so far combat seems a toe to toe slugging match

when your flying a frigate yes, you can physicly move your ship to evade fire, at least from medium guns and heavy missles. standard missles, rockets and small guns are hard to avoid.
in your overveiw, there is a column called transversal velocity. use manual navigation(double click on empty space) to keep it above 60/ms or more, and most cruisers or bigger ships wont be able to hit you, and the faster your ship is moving the harder you are to hit.
it takes a little practice but manual navigation is easy, just dont aproach big ships directly, use a zig zag pattern.

No you can't "evade." The way to make your enemy miss is to go faster than his tracking. This means getting closer, moving faster, jamming his tracking, or a combination of the above. -- Proud member of the [23].

Hi there Bcoll! I couldn't help but think you might appreciate a link to this guide http://www.eve-online.com/guide/en/g26.asp. It's really nice how they explain transversal velocity and tracking speeds, a novelty that our more "ancient" (*hides*) players didn't have when they were rookies as this guide was only recently added. You will see that combat can be way more than slugging indeed! A fast, nimble, ship can be quite the nuisance to the large, cumbersome, weapons systems on the bigger ships.
