Since I joined Eve 2-3 weeks ago now I've found that most of the aggressive ganking type players seem to fly Battleships. As some of you will remember from my previous forum post I got podded by one on my very first day, and have had a few encounters with them since (*kisses warp core protection*).
What is the best ship to go 1v1 with a Battleship? At the moment my best ship is the Amarr drone carrier cruiser, and although it can take a number of hits from a Battleship it can't come close to taking one down.

Another BS, or a HAC (Heavy assault cruiser, or ship) if you're solo, actually.

A well fitted assault frigate can cause immense trouble to any battleship apart from raven/scorp.

if you are new, and only flying t1 cruisers, your best bet for fighting a BS is a friend or 2.
try and get in a maller, and then use blackbirds/thoraxes as support.
As much firepower, and as much nossing as possible will help you break a tanking BS easily

A Titan (or other capital ship) but you probally wont have one of those yet.

I'm an assault ship guy myself. I have more BS kills with my harpy and my wolf then any other ship...They are fast and hard to track for most BS. Just get within their optimal, warp scram, web, attack. If they drop drones, kill the drones off first then get back to attacking the battle ship. 3 assault ships can kill a battleship.....may take a few minutes but it is very possible. i got the killmails to prove it.
Don't be that guy that rushes into a battlship just to loose it though. I would specilize in smaller ships first and get your PVP experience up...go for interceptors and assault frigs then get your skills up for T2 small weapons....will take you about a month and a half to get all that and you are ready to start dealing some decent damage...just remember, teamwork is the key to success in most battles.
