This is a flaw in game "protective" rules.
You are in trouble if you shoot someone in the secure systems, right?!? Now! If someone shoots at you? Then that someone else is in dept trouble right? :-)
So, to pod players in secure systems isn't easy!... but infact its very, very simple matter...
1. Select a secure system, possible an AB/fight between two players(in war) or against npcs.
2. Wait until u see someone that is firing missiles/smartboms agaisnt pirates or defending him self from pirates/players(in war).
2.a. If its a smartbomb, then get near that player and let the bomb take a small efect in your shields (he will be the agressor)
2.b. If its a missile try to be on the way (path) of that missile and let it hit you (he will be the agressor).
3. now get way and let the police/navy finish their job... pod that player...
4. then finish the pirate(if you have one) and loot the remains... if you want.
Well this exploit in game rules works well, the other player will be podded because was an agressor to you and he will get negative points.
Your status didn't change from 0.000000000... I mean nothing has changed for you... and you just pod someone in a secure system without any problems... correction the police did your dirty job ;-) ... well but its their function right? ;-)
Now! Why I'm posting this here?... because I was one of the victims of this flaw in the game fair rules. I've raised a petition with CCP in order to improve the rules... which I hope to see them corrected as soon as possible... Meanwhile its easy to pod users as you may see and you may do. Perphaps this way CCP may wake up fast and solve this matter
Take care and just a suggestion... don't use smartbombs neither missiles or your fatal mistake can be resumed a simple.... pod :-P

Well I'm not sure how easy it is to get hit by a missle or smartbomb, unless you're practically following someone in a war or battle.
If it happens though, you're right. I wonder if police use missles or smartbombs. If they don't this "exploit" would be a good reason - cause if they hit each other, would they attack each other (say if they're from different organizations)?

never seen a cop use a missle
------------------------------------------------ Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly - the ill deeds, along with the good - and let me be judged accordingly.
If this world was supposed to be friendly CCP wouldnt have wasted time paying the devs to code so many weapons |

Its no exploid, its just the stupid way they changed EVE. Another example: u shot some missiles on a NPC pirate at a jumpgate, the splash damage hits the gate and the sentry guns fire at u (the evil aggressor). Most players wanted sentry guns, now it is to late to use brain these players start to imagine what happened to the game. Sooner or later every1 will get some hits of a sentry gun...and it hits the newbies hardest...

It's very easy to protect your self from this exploit.
Don't engage in combat unless you are in a .4 or less system.

Word of warning my friends.
I was in a 0.5 security system minding my own business, when i was attacked by a noob player, they got 5 shots on me before i even locked them. 3 blasts from my guns and his shields had dropped, 2 police battleships warped in, and i had to run.
I got a security hit:::!!!!!!!.
So, word of warning dont take anything in this game as a common outcome. u may just find yourselves in a little egg.

Since there is some confusion here: He's referring to "pod" as in "to destroy one's ship".
Some people use "get podded" as in "get podkilled", others as in "ended up in a pod", he useses the latter one.

That's not an exploit. It's a way to protect bystanders. Simple solution don't use smartbombs or missles in high sec systems.

'Podded' usually means 'podkilled', ie. pod destroyed, clone activated.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

no.. podded = blown up podkilled = spaced
so to 'pod' someone is to put him in a pod
you can NEVER podkill without the penalty.. then you must have -10 sec lvl and if you do it in secure system with -10 the police will show up (now when that exploit Tank CEO and others used is fixed) |

Edited by: Thyro on 03/09/2003 14:40:44 you are right I did mention to be podded not to be podded killed...
What ever you like or not this is an exploit. Coz in game rules you shouldn't shoot anyone on systems above 0.5.... so basically you can't destroy the ship of no one under this rule otherwise you get negative points plus police/navy after you right?!?...
However with this, you are able to destroy without firing a single shoot... so basically you are exploiting the loop-hole left in this game rule.
Not engaging combat in secured systems? hum that's interesting... What you'll do when you have pirates? just run... that's no real...
The issue here isn't engaging or not combat in secured systems... but has to do with defending your self from pirates when other user gets in your way with the objective to pod you... exploiting this hole left by CCP...
So I'd suggest ... engage combat in secure systems against pirates and if you are at war against other corp... BUT don't user missiles neither "smart"bombs otherwise you may end be podded by police/navy if other user gets in your way :-)

yeap, i agree, Podding to me is just taking their ship and making them a pod, pod killing is nuking the egg and collecting their frozen corpse

Err, who is stupid enough to use missles or smart bombs on .5 and up rats?
you can the rats in those systems with the civ guns. The missles alone would cost more than any loot gained from high sec rats.
And so it begins.... |

You're wrong. You can podkill people in other corporations you're at war with, without penalty. Ask Jana Othel.
Keep on flaming, lamers.
