Hi there,
I've only been playing eve for less than a week now. And tonight the games is basically unplayable due to lag.
It takes around a minute to do ANYTHING. e.g. start autopilot, or select a skill to train, undock, open the 'items' window, etc.
- Is this only affecting a minority or is this a general thing?
- Will it be solved?
- Is this a common occurrance?
If this is a common thing I'm having doubts about Eve being worthwhile sticking with, so I can't really imagine it being all this common....
(On the bright side, I'm seriously enthusiastic about the whole game concept. Feel there is so much room for exploration and all.. Making this lag all the more frustrating.....)

Browse through this forum or the General Discussion, or use Eve-Search.com, and you'll see jillion lag-related threads. Unfortunately, it's not a recent occurrence, although the severity seems to have waned a tad since late DEC/early JAN.
The announced new server cluster is supposed to help, but I'll believe that when I see it in action. My only recommendation is to avoid playing when the lag is really bad.

Times to avoid playing currently are Sunday evenings and any time there are more than 19K players online.
Also avoid heavy loaded systems & avoid Jita like the plauge. Quiet systems are generally lag free (some do share a node with heavy systems though so it is possible to get lag in an empty system) so it may be worth changing to an agent in a quiet system.
I am a few jumps from Jita and dont have any problems with lag most nights, Sundays however I try and do things that dont involve combat (e.g. buying and selling or equipping my new ships for the week ahead)

Thanks for the replies. I do find it worrying to see such big lagspikes. Hope this will be addressed with the new server cluster.

I lost a Rupture in the Ignoitten complex today due to the lag. Guns wouldn't fire, ship wouldn't warp, nothing. What a PITA. |

Hi everyone
Ive been playing eve for about 3 weeks now.
While i experience the same problems as everyone else, ccp know all about these problems as far as i can tell.
Simple case of deduction.
messages on help channel in game specifically state that the problem is being worked on and there is no eta as to when it will be fixed, This message is displayed the first message everytime i log in.
From that i get the impression they are working as fast as possible to fix things and know how much it ****es people off but cant answer every mention of it as thousands of people bring it up in game channels (which probably adds to lag  )
There is a sticky for it in the general game forum asking for help to describe what is happening around you when you suffer from it.
From this i suspect they are trying to work out why it is happening so they can make it better for us all.
I have lost ships due to lag and been lucky other times but i just get on with it and try to use a little common sense playing to avoid the situations that might get me killed due to lag.
There must come a point when the developers think no matter how many times they post answers about this people will still post and flame them, so they may as well try to resolve the problem asap without sitting and answering every statement about the problem when the information / answers are there for everyone to read.
I have so far sent 2 support emails to CCP since starting eve, both have been answered quicker than any other game support ive had to contact in the past and both times have been honest answers regarding problems.
Also it seems to me that they are more involved directly with they game community than most other game developers, and i applaude the work they do.
Cant wait for new servers, new Kali update, and earning more isk so i can buy more goodies
