Wasn't sure if this is the right place but here goes
So my corp / alliance has been doing mining ops with between 7-12 people in them.. We have an orca with max boosts and a hauler. The rest of the fleet is in hulks / covetors / other. Normally we mine for around two hours and we'll bring in 130-160 mil isk of ore. We pay people based on the ships they used and in and how long they attended the op. Every time I've done it this way people get paid and the corp takes a little as profit (around 3-5%) But last night we had 24 people in the OP. We still only mined around 160-170 mil because cycles were dropping from too many people on single roids and etc. We actually lost some isk overall after we paid everyone (not that big of a deal but I don't want it to happen again).
I'm wondering what is the most efficient way to mine in large fleets? Any suggestions or tips? |

I don't like to put more than 6 miners in a belt. ( I try not to have more than 4 Exhumers/Barges in one belt) Your boosts will work throughout the whole system so try spreading out a bit more. Strip mining belts you should be able to hit 20 mil ore per Hulk per hour. (I can hit 130 - 160 mil per two hours with my four miners plus booster and hauler). If you selectively mine only the best ore you might be able to get this higher. But you will have to move around more. |

I'd suggest similar to the above, with that many people you should spread out to multiple belts. This may require more haulers, (one per belt) but would certainly be worth it. Also make sure that there is only one laser per rock, as to not get empty cycles.
I'd also suggest that you find a system with no stations. I've found that systems with no station have much larger rocks due to not being mined as often. Not sure if this is possible for you, but if you're in HighSec it shouldn't be too difficult to find a non-station system. Also, rotate belt/system each day or op. After rocks are mined, they regenerate slowly. If you mine the same belt clean each day, it'll respawn with less and less ore. Fly Safe-á o7 |

A few questions.
1) are you in highsec, low, or null? if null do you have someone with the ability to install the ore prospecting arrays 2) your orca boost, does he have the Implant? 3) Warping will disable the boosts and make sure everyone is receiving them.

My suggestion is as above - one squad per belt, one hauler per squad. :) |

I run a channel called Helpmymission.
We regularly run large mining ops for channel members with up to 30 people taking part.
The way we do it is to all go to one belt and spread ourselves out along the entire belt and mine into jet cans named HMM. When a can is full the can is renamed to HMMFull so the orca pilot can then tractor it in. (Orca and Obelisk sit in middle of belt within range of entire belt).
I've found it easier just to have everyone mine all the ore types so we can see how many belts we can strip on an op :-)
We prefer to pay everyone based purely on time spent rather than ship used so everyone can have a bit of fun taking part. I created a spreadsheet which you can download from my website if you want. (HMM was the featured fansite a couple weeks ago and is totally legit). It can be found at http://helpmymission.com/faqs/i-p/m/#operation-spreadsheet
Hope this can be of use.

Spread the hell out. I know people like to clump up because they have range boosts, and they want to make hauling easier, but spreading out is better. Haulers can warp straight to anyone they need to, and cans last two hours.
Also, assign different rocks to different people. If you tell everyone to mine the ark first, then this, then that, and so on, that's where you waste cycles.
Or you could just have everyone mine the spodumain, that should keep the whole fleet busy for a while.
Also agreeing with the guy above me about mining everything. I know people like their spreadsheets, and this ore is worth more than that ore, but if you have more than a dozen miners with boosts, just get everything. Clean the belt, and move on to the next one. Every ore type is useful, especially if you're mining to produce, not to sell. |

Similar to this however have a Noctis Tractoring JetCans and a Miasmos hauling, Orca safe at a POS/Safe BM. Orca doesn't need to be on grid to give boosts. Suggested fit for Noctis will depend on the size of the OP. We had a 50 man Ice Op(before the change to Ice belt Mechanics) and everyone was on a different Ice roid, the Noctis easily reached everyone. 96K Tractor Beam range at max skills. 7 Tractor Beams and 1 salvager(just for the odd rat wreck) |
