Man, I swear Im gonna stop reading this forum at all. 90% of the people I actually talk to IN the game love it, but come here and 99% of the posts are whiney *****fests about how borked it is.
Can we not get a bit of constructive conversation going in here? If you dont like the game, then for the love of Pete, dont play it, but stop posting on here as if the fact that you dissagree with how it works is equal to CCP eating your firstborn with fava beans and a nice Chianti.
And to all you content whiners, (and yes, I know Im pee-peeing up a rope by even saying this), this game only requires some IMAGINATION to create your own content. EVE is the canvas, YOU paint the picture. If you want someone to deliver some crappy canned content straight into your lap, go play Earth and Beyond.

Instead of posting a constructive thread, you cry about crying, huh? ----------------------------- You think Marco Polo said "Damn Mongolians were camping that cave entry into the next valley the entire day, you can't get friggin anywhere in the world with those damn griefer tribes all over the place" ? -Indigo Seqi

Well, sorry, I just get tired of rampant negative comments that dont really need to be said, over and over.
The constructive part of what I said was supposed to be the concept that eve is what you make of it. +++

Kashre,
I'm beginning to wonder about the mindset of a certain group of players (and people using alts - we all know who) who are repeatedly accusing CCP/Polaris of lying.
It's sad to see.

Very sad, but some of the soap operas played out here are enterntaining.
"The human species suffers from a dimensional limitation. They are not able to understand that matter and mind are just one aspect of something more fundamental. We must strive to expand our perspective so we can see what our true reality is." Deep toughts by Mr.Pops, while consuming large quantities of Blue Pill and staring at the EVE gate in Genesis.

I agree with Kashre 100%.
The same thing happens on SWG. You see a new breed of negative posting on MMO's - comprising of "I pay your wages and I'm not happy" to "My free month is up and I'm not going to play any more unless you X Y Z"
Kids eh! But I get the feeling that people are more likely to sound off if they are unhappy - because when they are happy they just get on with the game.
Perhaps CCP would do better by trying to give unhappy people a really good and obvious method for feeding back their criticisms (some kind of feedback form) and slapping a link in a few prominent places.

I personally like the red button, feels better having ccp reporting likte that. Tho i rather see ppl flame there then in the forums. That way things doesnt seems all negative in the forums. Sure sometimes you dont know if they really are flaming or serius. All newcommers who visits the forums would then that way feel more welcome ect... my 2 cents.

Its pretty natural that people dont write about what they like in the game so much. Its when something unfair or unexpected happens that they get angry and head to these forums to write about it. Therefore, you get the picture that everybody hates the game, which is far from the truth.
To counter-balance, write something positive that you like about the game in these forums.
I love the skill training system and the feeling of getting good loot from pirates. I love to kill pc pirates because I know they dont smile when I do it. :) I even enjoy mining sometimes just for the cash I get. Also, optimizing your new ship to be as perfect as possible is a lot of fun. And buying rare items when you dont wanna spend the time to find them yourself.
Hope that wasnt too positive...

Edited by: Kimi on 31/08/2003 11:06:33 Edited by: Kimi on 31/08/2003 11:00:23 At one time I was this games bigges FanGirl. There was nothing that CCP could do wrong.
What happened?
Well, aside from all the bugs, which believe it or not, I could live with for a while.
Well, I am not sure. I think most of it is boredom. I started this game on the 2nd day it was out, and used to play for hours at a time. Sometimes from sunup til 4am server shutdown on weekends. My main interest was in the market, manufacturing, and economy. I have now done the same things over and over so much I could almost just write a macro for it. There has been nothing new since the day it was released. There is nothing I am doing now that I could not have done on day 1 in the industrial or economic area if my skills were trained. How many ships can you sell before it gets old? I have sold hundreds, perhaps thousands. The thrill of making and selling yet one more Moa just does not get me excited anymore. So I sell a couple of battleships - so what? Just bigger versions of cruisers. The best I can hope for is to build a different type of Battleship. Oh Yay.
I am getting more and more so I just log on, stick a few things in the factory, put a few things on the market, set up a few buy orders, and log for the day. And then do it all again the next day.
There is nothing left for me to do in this game that I have not already done except become a pirate, which holds no interest for me.

yeah some of the soap operas ARE extreemly entertaining...
I sayd it before...il say it again...
There is only one thing worst then a trolling or flaming topic and thats a completely useless topic.
This one rates pretty high on the usuless topic list..
*blaat* people are whining, so im gonna whine about the whiners! Poor ccp doesnt need to see all this *blaat*
*cough* This is what happens when you release a game thats 15% finished and full of bugs my man
What did you expect? Thats everyone would be happy with bugware? People do not like the microsoft trend you know
This was discussed many times during beta...during beta there were also these flames and whine topics...but they were less intence then they are now. We all knew this would increase by 100% once the game went live and people were paying for subs!
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
Especially the IMAGINATION part. Thats what I always say too. * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. To the rest, we are friendly and always prepared to help out. Peo |

Its sadly becaming like that in society. Sad sad individuals that trip over a bump in the footpath and need someone to sue. Always crying and complaining that they are missing out and that someone has done them wrong or the people have not done enough.
The game is great, the game is always improving and our people and the people we know ingame are having lots of fun. Its well worth it for my 40 cent a day.
The most disappointing aspect of the entire eve experience are the pathetic whiners in here general (and look at me...turning into one of them). Anyhow a few word for you, cancel you subscriptions and leave PLEASE!

Its because people don't realise the good things and think about the bad things to much. I mean I could post loads of good topics. Great Graphics.. Great Community.. Customer support isn't to shabby. The server crashes, and its back up quickly.. Design is good. Good idea's for ships, good ideas for items, new ideas.
Theres not many games like EVE, like in space, so obviously its going to have its flaws. E&B does..

Kashre bings up valid things to consider. The game to me is perfect, I've maybe gotten stuck once or twice, other then that ... mayeb a few CTD's every now and then, but no where near as bad as a lot of people. Go play any other mmo and you'll experience it all the same ... the bugs, the lag, the CTD's ... its all still alive and well in every single other mmo out there. So what makes Eve any different? Because its your chosen game to play? I'm sorry but problems will happen from time to time ... like paying for a movie at the movie theatre and having the film break. You get a momentary CTR (Crash to Reality). Sometimes they refund your ticket, sometimes they don't... depends on the place.
There are a lot of good things in Eve, just needs time to learn.
It'll be ok ;p

The difference is in this game the bugs and CTDs cost you a lot more... I dont think there's any other game in which a CTD could cost you 5+ hours of mining, or worse, 2 or 3 days of camping NPCs just to get your rare equipment back. ----------------------------- You think Marco Polo said "Damn Mongolians were camping that cave entry into the next valley the entire day, you can't get friggin anywhere in the world with those damn griefer tribes all over the place" ? -Indigo Seqi

If you look at UO and EQ ... it can be worse, as it can be in eve ...it varies. In UO, you could lose everything you had on if you got dropped by the same reason ... pirates or npc monsters killed you. In EQ, all yoru stuff is on your body .. you lose a connection in a bad spot, guess what ... you come back with nothin on you and you need to find your body. There are ways in EQ to get yoru stuff back easier, but it still can be fairly harsh. Eve has insurance for the ship and for the equipment .. .well .. save your really good stuff for those times when it's most important to equip it. Or you tellign me you need all those rare mods on to popa few npc pirates? As for minign a few hours ... a small bit of pain for the fun you can have.
You can do anything you set your mind to. |

6k to 5k is hardly a massive drop.
Why shouldn't we say anything about summer?
Everyone knows net use decreases during the hot months.
