How to?
I mean I want to use the dual monitor setup, whats the procedure? I see people doing it.
I have a Geforce 4 Ti 4600, and 2 identical 18in Flat Pannel so ideal setup for multi monitor. Can anyone tell me exact steps?
I use the option in game for 2 monitors, and the game goes to fullscreen 320x240 video mode.
What can I do?
BTW I use my dual monitor system in just the standard extending desktop to second monitor...

i have a 5600 ultra card. it has two monitor output sockets so i simply plug two monitors in the back. if your vid card only has 1 output then you must either put 2 vid cards in your pc, or buy a card with two outputs.
that said, i cant get the dual screen mode to work anyway. as soon as i select it to dual screen the res drops to 300x200 and i can no longer edit my settings because the res is so low i am trapped ina tiny part of the config screen.
only way out of that screen has been reinstall for me. i tried deleting cache. i tried overwriting entire folder with my backup installation. had to reinstall. dual screen doesn't work for me.

If you get the low res problem so you can't change the settings in-game, you can fix it by editing the prefs.ini file in notepad. Look for the desktopHeight and desktopWidth settings, and change them to 768 and 1024 respectively.

Nope, I could never get dual screen working. Its just a fix for the resolution thing that's always worked for me.

Anyways, thaks for the info, but I already knew of the prefs.ini search for desktop_setup=2 then change it to 1 restart the game and it works :))

I tried setting eve from standard 1024/768 to 1280/1024 in fullscreen mode and it hung my computer (ctrl-alt-del worked). I went into prefs.ini and wrote 1024/768 back but when I started eve the game was still in 1280/1024, only now it works normally.
methinks there must be some compatibility issue with DX somewhere in there

Edited by: Monuera on 10/09/2003 13:02:39 I have the same problem with a ATI radeon 9800 pro 128mb card I connected it with 2 monitors. I had the same problems after setting the game up for two monitors it locks in 320 mode on one monitor. I got it to work again but still I hate not being able to play on two monitors. Also I cant work on the other monitor as soon as I click a screen or someting on the second monitor the game wil flash back to the desktop. If I then try to go back to the game again I can not get it to work again. All I can do is terminate the game and start it up again. Everybody I talked to ingame and tried this had the same problem. To me it sounds like a bug in the client

Go to www.eve-i.com and dl the evedude tool. This app will let you change all the game options outside the game. It also seems to keep the game from doing that 320*240 thing. Keep in mind though the res setting won't say the right thing bcack in the game.
I run dual mon, but I only run it on one screen. But I had to use that tool because any other way, even manually changing the pref, I'd get that screwed res.
Now, even if a card supports dual display, does that automatically mean you can do dual gaming? I would not think so, I would think you'd need two real cards in your system, or that Matrox card.
I met someone in the game using the Matrox card and had it across 3 screens, something like 3072*768 res and he'd get a good average 30fps. This allowed him to keep many game windows on one screen and for better organization and access.

yeah i tried that dude software. it wouldn't let me change settings in game. i had to restart after each change.
please ask your mate what config he is using for his dual screen.
maybe i will update my nvidia drivers to the latest ones instead of going with the recommended 43.45's

I think I saved his name, but he isn't using a nvidia card and it's triple screen. His card was designed for it and was a main feature advertised on it's release. Like before, I have no idea if nvidia or ati cards which support dual display can do dual display gaming. You might need two true 3D cards, so each screen has it's own gpu

*sigh* will you guys check the board before posting duplicate items plz!
duel monitor isn't implemented, it's only ever worked by stretching the screen using gfx card tools, which looks aweful on 2 screens, so either get 3 screens or stick to 1. until CCP bother to implement it properly. ------------------------------------------ if (orbitstation==1) { orbitstation=0; } |
