lo Some words about saturday..and how long was this day for some polaris on chan Help (Nyte, Phosphor, Wrangler, Macayle) I know the feeling to be in front of some hundred people very frustated and which don't stop to ask about server trouble, "when it's fixed", "when my char 'll be unstucvk", some very angry etc etc ..(i was GM in one other game) but guys yuo've done a great job to maintain quiet the chan and to manage this situation. I know yuo didn't get more info than us ,simple player, during a long time but yuo tried to get some and give us what yuo got. I was Stuck for 8h in Amarr Black Hole so my alt Master Yoda was in help all this time and really i've appreciated the way yuo have done yuor job. Cheers

I really felt sorry for the Polaris guys, they were taking a whole lot of undeserved flak. I was in the help channel for much of the day, and since I don't have green text, I don't have to be polite.....

People dont realise the amount of stress player support people go though. When I was a senior admin for blueyonder we had loads of applicants for admin positions. Unfortunatly most ended up quitting withing 1 to 2 months due to the pressure.
It's a thankless job and but for the guys who volunteer for it the waiting queues would be 10 times longer.
There were some teething troubles with response times at the start but all my petitions lately have been handled quickly and professionally. Now that the networking appears to be fixed I'm betting it's going to cut the number of CTD problem significantly.
Good work guys. -------------------------------------------

I was in help for awhile (stuck). I think they did a good job, Macayle and HockeyGoalie were excellent and really tried to help. Considering they are just players too (like us) I think its nice to see them give up their playing time to help out the general membership.

Few people actually understand and appreciate the nature of support or customer services roles in a real world environment and even fewer do so when there are global problems that effect everybody. It always makes me laff how an individual believes that by being the loudest or most abusive/threatening when posting complaints in a forum/chatroom they believe their issue is going to be fixed any quicker. Most people like this tend to be nice as pie on the phone - weird no? Problems happen, people get upset and frustrated (which is understandable) but hassling admins every 4 seconds demanding an immediate update to a problem they probably know little about really is a waste of time. People as a whole get hysterical only when spurned on by a small group of angry, vocal people. They tend not to care about the problem itself, they just like to flame and vent because they are ignorant asses and it makes them feel better.

Edited by: Tivalus LinG on 31/08/2003 11:56:46 I was a guide in EQ for over a year, I quit being a guide for two reason.
you had to be nice to everyone, even that guy who petitioned for the 199th time about the same problem, calling you names and telling he didnt give a crap bout you, calling you worse names that a drunken sailor would, he just wanted to talk to a gm.(you get the idea)
You had very few actual powers (but sony did improve that part when most of the gms got laid off).Still it was very frustrating, eventually people knew we couldnt do much and basicly came a "summon my corpse out of the wall" and "forward to a gm" group.
I would love to join polaris if it wouldnt be for the same reasons, that i quit being a guide. People can only take *so* much abuse.
