Sometimes, i feel the need to let a specific message in space, and concord billboard inspired me.
A floating sign is a panel which display a scrolling message which length varies depending on the floating sign model (the longer the message, the more expensive , etc etc ...).
As this structure are weak and aren't maintained by Concord just like the billboard, they suffer space particules and are destroyed after a certain amount of time (again, depending on the model ... the longer, the more expensive).
Now, what are these floating signs for ?
Next to a station, you could display the message : "Cheap MOA here !"
In an event, display an enigma, or give some clue (e.g. "Go to Yong III and find the key to chat mastering")
In an asteroid field : "DON'T TOUCH THAT D***** JETTISON ! IT'S MINE ! ALL MINE !"
Hum ... and many many more uses that i've not found again but i'm sure you do
Feedback or flames are welcome |

I can see a reason for corporations or alliances to announce their presence with something like this but the general public being allowed to litter space with eyesoars I resent.
I personally will shoot down every such banner I see.

You're right.
After some reflexion, i've tought that Concord Billboard should be more appropriated for this purpose as you can rent them. |

I think this would be interesting, but perhaps not in the exact fashion you saw. Think about the quafe stations. When you're docked inside and you see that marquee'ing text in the background... why not have the same on the outside of the station? It would be limited to just one sign per station and maybe it would cycle through all of the "ads" that people have bought there before repeating.
just a thought

Why not ? I think players should have many means of expression in this game. |

Edited by: Cell Satimo on 31/08/2003 23:15:09 One of the pleasures about gaming is that there are no *insert expletive* advertisements everywhere.
These games run on a pay to use model, so Real world advertising has no place.
As for EVE-Universe related advertising, the original and persistant purpose of advertising is to; 1) Differentiate mass-produced goods. Which is not possible in eve because you can't label the goods 2) Inform buyers in the market about different products and services. Since the market for products is fully-open per region, that is worthless.
Which only leaves: Advertising services. Which quite frankly there are so few real services it would be acceptable, except for the fact that *insert expletive* advertising is *even ruder expletive* invasive and distracting.
(Edit - Removed alternative idea on places to put advertising because quite frankly i don't want to see it any-*expletive*-where in the game) | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

Edited by: Reventlov on 01/09/2003 03:52:53 A couple of billboards at Catch/Stain border saying:
"You are entereing S-A Controlled territory. Contact *S-A Rep* for further information. No unauthorized entry beyond this point."
Would save us, and a lot of the people we kick out, a lot of trouble neither of us want.
But I agree on the point that this should ultimately be CONCORD controlled and not entirely in the hands of the players. ------------------ Reventlov Officer, TacDiv The Collective Stain Alliance |
