Dear Oveur and all CCP staff and fans alike,
The new recent Dev blog by Oveur is to say the least, and excellent blog and shows just how in tune with the community CCP really is.
So with that said...
I have played many MMO's and all that stuff...blah blah...(who cares)
but...it is a FACT in my eyes.... NO game is as in tune with it's community as CCP is with EvE.
I know you want to come to Las Vegas in March. Many players have asked me personally if you will be attending. We also know you are very busy and VERY dedicated to EvE and it's community.
With that said....I will Break out my Arnold Schwarzenagger voice broken on a laptop....

Get your ASS to Vegas....

Player Gathering In Las Vegas on March 15th and 16th
Honestly...
To Oveur (and all staff) ....Kudos on the new blog
I personally will buy you all the beer you can drink while here Oveur ...
Since Hellmar and kieron are coming also and probably a few more from CCP, I would be very disappointed if TomB showed up and you did not (kieron confirmed yesterday that Hellmar is attending also and maybe you yourself, if you can pry your fingers from that keyboard long enough to drink beer, while not in the office. Drinking beer while working doesn't count )
oh yeah... TomB gets free soda to make sure he doesn't get ...well you know ...if he comes to...
besides the players are almost rabid to meet you honestly...
In Game world, and EvE, your like a rock star

Dont be so obtuse. Then again most Europeans have only had the major branded lables to taste from, which BTW I agree are ****e. (I just wanted to use obtuse in a sentence) But please dont be too judgemental, there is a reason why we export the crap beer....

Remember that your average hugely successful brew in Europe is the equivalent (in terms of the size of the operation) of a regional brewery in the States.
The huge national brands (Bud, Miller, Coors) really have no comparison. It's not that they are bad persay, just that they are entirely too industrial in terms of how they are created. Theres also the matter of inconsistancy. Bud's Yutica brewery actually makes good beer, however thier tallahassee brewery uses older equipment, with more variable weather and just does not put out a good product at all.
You don't see this type of wild variation in the smaller beer companies simply becuase of scale. Its a lot easier to keep a handle on something with 2 breweries as oppossed to 20.
If you want to give American beer a real chance, you need to at the very least try the regional specialty, or even the microbrews. An example of a good regional brew is Yuengling (although they are going national soon, they seem to be going slowly and setting things up properly so I have high hopes for them) and a good example of a microbrewery would be the Stone brewing company (they make Guiding Hand Social Club's brew of choice, Arrogant Bastard Ale)
Trust me mate, American's are nott wont for good beer. You just have to avoid the more broadly marketed stuff.
PRoposal to fix blobbing and make Charisma useful.

I think the best national beer, and I can only assume its national, is Sam Adams.. _______________________________________________

As a fully paid up member of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), I was expecting exactly that when I went to Washington DC in September 2001. I was actually very pleasantly surprised not only how good some of the US "micro-brewery" beers were, but also how many were readily available. I found one pub/bar in DC (The Old Capitol Brewing Company) where they actually brew the beer in the bar, and another small bar where they had 12 different beers on tap and the tap heads for over 400 others that they had served previously.

Here in Maine a lot of the bars and some of the resturants have their own micro-breweries. There are quite popular and make some good beer _______________________________________________

I spent some time in Canada and got to try alot of American and Canadian beers. I really didnt like the american beers, sorry. The canadian ones were ok.
I find north american beers to be generally too light for my taste. But then im from England where we enjoy our dark ales, like Newcastle Brown, Hobgoblin, Fiddlers Elbow etc.
I think the spirits are better in North and South America personally.

Edited by: BlackHole Bob on 11/02/2006 12:15:36 Las Vegas has several micro brewery's.
Also there is a little place called "Crown and Anchor" that has over 50+ international beers on tap...if you go in there, and speak domestic beer, you won't fit in at all and won't get served any domestic beer at all

Interesting how tastes vary all over. I am a little picky about my beer, and the real dark stuff, I just dont like it. If it pours like mud, not interested. My stepson loves that stuff though.
I wouldnt eat burned and boiled ram heads and mashed ram ********* either... _______________________________________________

American beers are "too light"? You mean Bud/Coors/Miller right? Try to broaden your horizons beyond the local sports bar and/or 7-11. America has the largest variety of beers in the world. I'm sure you can find a good brown ale fairly easily. _______________________

As above, the mass produced beer is terrible, those of us who actually love beer refuse to drink it.
But there are a great many extremely good beers her, locally brewed. I've spent enough time in europe to know that the good ones here compare on an even footing with the best beers there.
Come over and try sometime.

Ahh see if you were in Canada they normally get the major brewers "micro-brews" which are lite for the simple fact it appeals to more people. (mass marketing 4TL) If your ever in the NW of America (Oregon/Washington mainly) and you want a good thick, dark, bitter, beer ask for "Black Butte Porter". It pours like chocolate syrup. Mmmm I'm salavating just thinking about it.
Quote: There are 29 breweries operating within the Portland city limits, more than any other city in the world. Three more breweries are planning to open in 2006 bringing the total to 32. The Portland metro area boasts 37 breweries, more than any other metro area in the world.
Not too many Portlanders here, but for the ones who drink beer we are spoiled. Yes, I like beer. Yes, I like talking about beer. Yes, I like drinking beer. Sorry
