VentureCorp, an old and large corporation with strong historical ties to the northern 0.0 regions today announces a major corporate restructuring.
Summary for those who don't like to read:
The highlights of this restructuring effort include a substantial pruning of the member base, as well as handing over IRON executorship during an amicable departure from formal alliance membership.
Detailed Description:
We in the VentureCorp directorate are very proud of what our corp has accomplished over the last two and a half years. The major role we've played in 3 major alliances in the north has been personally fulfilling for many of our members and leaders. We're grateful for the opportunities that our corporation and its leadership have created for our members, both past and present. We've been very happy for those members who have taken advantage of these opportunities and have been able to amass fortunes that seem huge even to those of us used to dealing with corporate level finances. We've also felt lucky to interact with, mentor and help our many great players as well as those who have been a part of our corporation in the past, and have since moved on.
Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position of having no corporate leaders left who are capable, willing, and/or able to continue (or resume) providing the large investment in time and energy necessary to lead a large, multifaceted, heavily alliance involved corporation.
The many services and innovative benefits that have been such a source of pride during the history of our corporation have become a burden to those who have sacrificed substantial personal enjoyment in order to maintain them. Participation, initiative, and group activities have declined somewhat with an overall unwillingness by the few to continue to "motivate" the many into a greater sense of purpose.
There is an overwhelming, and virtually unanimous desire by corporate leaders and "core" players to be able to just play and enjoy this fantastic game. We have an overwhelming urge to enjoy the corporation and EVE experience with people that all have similar ingame interests as well as a similar level of commitment to group & corporation goals.
VentureCorp will not be going inactive, but will become a much smaller, more laid back, and more team oriented entity. This group will be comprised primarily of the small percentage of long time members who are responsible for the majority of what VentureCorp has become. We will also be inviting a few members who may have not had the same level of historical impact on the corporation, but whom we feel we will enjoy playing the game with, and that are at the point in thier EVE experience where they will enjoy the new organization and it's philosophy.
VentureCorp will be encouraging those members who will not continuing on with us to join corporation within IRON or our allies. We stress that these member are fine people, and fine players who will do very well in most larger EVE organizations.
VentureCorp has been corporation that had very light taxation as compared to our overall outflows of expenses and "give back" programs. Therefore, we have historically financed large-scale assets such as BPO's through both huge efforts and sacrifice by a very small subset of the corporation, as well as through formal and informal loans made to the corporation by our members. Current assets will be liquidated as necessary to repay these member loans. What assets remain will continue to be the property of VentureCorp.

On the Alliance/political side, we acknowledge that we will not be able nor willing to fulfill the requirements of full alliance membership at this time, and are amicably stepping down as alliance executor, and will be formally leaving IRON. We are not, however, changing our political affiliations, and will hopefully continue to fight alongside, and interact regularly with those corporations and alliances in the north who have been our friends.
We realize that there are some who will be unhappy with this change. While we understand this perspective, we feel that this is the right move for the ultimate preservation of VentureCorp for those to whom the corporation means more to than just a ticker. We are also confident that we are, and will continue to handle this change as ethically as anyone could hope for.
VentureCorp is not, nor has ever been a democracy, and we move into these new times with no apologies, nor regrets.
Thank you for your time, Destable, CEO VentureCorp

I'm glad youÆre making the decision to take a step back to enjoy the game. I've had to do this myself on a couple of occasions although on a much smaller scale. I look forward to continuing fighting alongside my refreshed and rejuvenated venture corp friends.
