indeed it is ... but Jack Honey & Ginger is amazing (also, I have to travel a lot, so at bars ... apparently you get ~more~ liquor with a mixed drink than ordering it neat).
fair enough on the pappy ... but at least McCallan is somewhat more generally obtainable ... I believe either fits the bill quite nicely |

Oh liquor, you make me so happy.
As for good whiskeys:
Ardbeg Corryvreckan is incredible. Argbeg Ardbog is good as well. I had a Macallan 18 the other day, that was some good scotch.
Also, anyone else drink Armagnac? It's one of my favorite spirits. We should introduce CCP to some good Armagnac. |

Missed the bit where I recommended the Sempe 15 year Armagnac, eh? ;) But yes! It's brilliantly tasty. You definitely need it a bit more aged than a cognac, but it's quite flavorful. I was turned onto it by a friend who's definitely a liquor snob in the best of ways.
Also, Anslo-- haven't we talked beer before? I'm in the Pacific Northwest. We have microbreweries and hop growers the way California has wineries and vineyards. Mind, Pac NW beers tend to be hopbombs-- even the stuff that isn't hoppy --but it's definitely exposed me to good stuff. Trappist ales are always fun, and I love Mikkeler's work, but I tend to like ambers and reds most of all. Ninkasi's spring and summer seasonals are reliable buys, and I'll endorse virtually anything by Dogfish Head (Mida's Touch was my first favorite artisan beer, and I love all of their ancient ales), aaand... yeah. Going to stop there.
I need to practice making a decent snakebite for my fiancee. I think it'll be how I start getting her into stouts and porters. |

Whatever you enjoy, just make sure that your brain cells die with dignity - always drink good booze, good wine, and good beer.
Pretty much, that means avoiding anything you see advertised on American television.
Following that rule won't always be correct (Tusker Lager in Africa was absolute ******-over cougar **** strained through a septic tank , but I digress), but will rarely, if ever, be wrong.
Beer from the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa may be freely sampled without encountering disappointment. Upscale Finnish vodka, Guinness, Spanish wine, and the rum selections from the British Navy Club in Hong Kong are also highly recommended.
Pisco from Peru (along with cevich+¬, yum!) may be trusted, but you might want to stay away from anything from that part of the world that tastes of black licorice, as you may awaken with entire WEEKS missing from your memory.

Very few of the beers from the big breweries (from any country) are good. When I say Canada produces some fine beers, I'm talking about the same type of sources as the fine beers the US produces.
Give La Fin Du Monde a try. It's good, despite being from a region where they try (and fail) to speak french, and they've got a pretty far flung distribution network (the problem with craft beers is that you read about one and then can't find a bottle unless you go to the brewery). |

Drinking Johnnie Walker Green Label as I write this. Better than Black or Double Black, better than Platinum or Blue. Green actually has a finish and is surprisingly good for a blended malt.
However, MacAllan 18, Laphroaig 18, or Glenmorangie 10 are where it's at. |

The Green Label is a really smooth single malt blend, I love it. Personally, I like Blue Label a lot better, but at $160 a bottle, I only buy two a year, and savour them. I stock up on Black every time I empty a bottle, though. |

How about giving the ships the names of blends?
We could have Whisk(e)y fleets, Vodka doctrines, Rum gangs, Sake Squads, Tequila Troops (for the Dust fellas). It would be a nice thing for april at least.
I would vote for Minmater as the Rum faction. Amarr can have all the Vodka the want. Caldari would qualify for Sake in m eyes. That would leave Whisk(e)y to the Gallente. |
