Some of them have sth. like precheck corps that you have to go thru first, if you're worthy, you might get further. I know that Meatshield Bastards is one of those, pre corp for The Bastards. That's the end of my knowledge about the topic though... |

There are a number out there. My best advice is to do a little research to find one that matches your playing time and style. If you find one that interests you, move a few ships into their area, get blown up by them/try to blow them up/do some roams...etc
Meatshield Bastards, the feeder corp for The Bastards is currently recruiting. Drop by DBastards channel ingame and chat someone up.

Why would you want to role play a space pirate? If by "pirate" you mean "PVP," then pretty much every corporation in the game (aside from a few explicitly labeled mining corps) are "pirate corps," and are recruiting. |

Re-read the thread, who said role-playing a space pirate?
RP Pirates go around saying "Yarr!!" and that is pretty much weak sauce. But they do operate on some weird internet e-honor code and some other crap. Polar opposite of CVA basically.
"Pirates" are the ones that roam around and operate on a base of rules and offer ransoms. These folk work their money. VETO, Neg 10, MOD, SCUM etc etc.
And then there are the Gankers. Not pirates do not care about loot, isk or anything else...just scattering your internet space pixels and giggle like a **** School boy when you nerd rage.
EDIT: why the hell is the word referring to WWII German political label nuked? CCP? you have to be kidding... |

You're doing something outside of game mechanics, which are limited to shooting or not shooting your target, and living by a code of rules. Maybe you don't fill up local or private chats with erotic space fiction, but you are definitely playing a role and enforcing on yourself mechanics that do not exist in the game. |

As someone said before - Most low sec corps are pvp corps.
The difference between a low sec pirate and low sec pvp corp is that one has the word 'pirate' in their recruitment thread.
Many individual players also call themselves pirates but they are not pirates - They are just people with low sec status.
Just find people active in your timezone who dont derp too much and fly with them. If you want to get your soul to heaven, trust in me. Now don't judge or question. You are broken now, but faith can heal you. Just do everything I tell you to do. (Opiate - Tool) |

I would say that hisec piracy does not exist. Criminals, yes, AWOX, corp theft, ect... but all criminals arent pirates...
I guess my own definition of piracy would involve more of things like catching a hauler and ransoming... or forcing them to eject and taking their ship or whatnot.

Funny that the ideas and motives behind Piracy are lost on you. Oddly enough we've just accepted and ex CFC member into our fold on a trial basis. Lets see.... What did he say? Oh right recruitment post! Ahem....
"Basically my whole EvE career has been with the CFC. In the CFC you have nothing but giant **** fests that are extremely painful to be in. So when you are in an entity that large and fighting in battles that mean absolutely nothing to the individual player, your eyes start to look elsewhere. My eyes fell on Shadow Cartel and I was and still am envious of the small and medium scale PvP that you get to partake in. That is what EvE is about to me."
Straight from one of your own. As for Piracy groups who are recruiting yes Shadow Cartel is recruiting in USTZ and AUTZ. Visit my blog for all the latest in jeers and tears as well as news at http://hoistthecolors.org |

It never ceases to amaze me how in every single thread discussing pirates/pirating/low-sec PVP/etc. The discussion ALWAYS trails off into random players trying to define what a "pirate" is or isn't.
Things like "People who offer ransoms aren't pirates, because *insert personal reason they try to justify and define piracy based on their opinion*".
Or "Real pirates honor ransoms because *insert personal opinion/reason on why or what makes someone a real pirate*".
Or "Just because you have a low-sec status doesn't make you a pirate because *insert personal opinion/reason on why it does/doesn't".
It's hilarious that these people actually think they can define what a pirate is, or that they think they hold any weight whatsoever in the viewpoint of what others define piracy as.
Why is the "pirate" profession so fragmented and torn in different directions of what makes you one? You don't see countless industry threads being derailed by things like "Well you don't use mining crystals on Tuesdays while wearing no pants so obviously you're not a real miner" or "Pfff you mean you are running L4's for CALDARI and don't salvage every mission? Clearly you aren't a mission runner."
Fascinating. Lol. -Sky' |
