I'm having a problem making an insta jump to a gate. Asteroids are no problem. It appears to me that warping to a gate and then trying to move beyond it to 15km or whatever is impossible. The only way to pass the gate is to jump. Otherwise, I just stop at the gate. OK, so I jump, and that puts me 15km on the other side. OK, so I make a bookmark for that spot and go back to my station to test it. I open my bookmarks and look for a "Warp to" in the right click menu. No "Warp to". There is for asteroids, but not for the jump bookmark. The only option warp-wise is "Set destination", which still puts me 15km on this side of the gate. Have gate rules changed since this method was invented, or am I missing something? Thanks!

Edited by: Mimiru on 14/02/2006 04:09:37 Warp to the gate at 15km then double click just above or below the gate to move in that direction (try to click far enough away so you dont bump into the gate, but close enough so you dont get too far above/below the gate). Move about 12km past the gate and make a bookmark. Then warp back to where you were before you first warped to the gate, and warp to them BM at 15km. should put you within jump range.
Different style gates sometimes require different distances to put the bm behind them, but its usually within 10 to 13 km

Thanks for your reply! I finally actually made an insta to a gate that worked. That's a fairly precise skill -- easy to make mistakes and have to do it over. I can understand how people are able to sell them for such high prices.

Rather than double-clicking just above or below the gate, manually adjust your speed to max while you're facing the gate. It's even more accurate, and is much easier.

I tried that and just bumped into the gate. If EVE had crashes , I would have crashed. ---

And you didn't automatically maneuver around the gate, and keep going past it as if the gate hadn't been there?
Weird. When using my shuttle, I always hit the gate, but then my ship automatically finds its way around the obstacle. I guess that is the reward I reap for investing in the plus package, eh?

No, I just sat there at 0 m/s. Maybe I didn't wait long enough? Dunno how long I waited -- seemed like quite a while. ---
