I just thought of a random idea, that may sound a bit silly. I wish I had EFT at work so I can experiment with it, but I'll throw this out to the crowd to see if it's feasible or even practiced.
I was thinking of an Apocalypse that can do high sec exploration, do Level 3's, salvage, and have an omni-tank, all with just one fit and not have a need to change out mods between these few activities.
I can do Level 4's nicely but I find that I have more fun with Level 3's. I am not doing this for the ISK, just for fun. Reason for not wanting to change the fit is because it would be a nice challenge to see if I can last, I may find myself exploring further and further away from my home system so changing out may not be an option, and because I can generally be a lazy-ass some days.
It would need to fit all the exploration related mods plus scanner. I was thinking of not having the full set of turrets to make up in other areas if necessary (Cap, CPU, PG), plus I think I'd only need four turrets anyways for Level 3's and high sec exploration.
I picked a Battleship for this experiment because I'm not sure if a Harbinger can handle both without needing to change fittings. Although I'd consider a good Harbinger fit if one's available. I'm Amarr focused.
Not expecting any setups but if you have any, feel free to throw them out. Mostly looking for feedback before I get home and experiment.
By the way, I just upgraded to Windows 7. Does EFT work on that? Does it still use the Legacy API or the new API? Any issues in that respect? |

cant highsec explore in anything larger than a cruiser. BCs can do 4/10s but your missing on profits i think if you ignore 2/10s and 3/10s. By the time you get to 5/10s or whatever where BS are needed youd want a dedicated alt. Id reccomend an Omen Navy Issue to you. Can run l3s very quickly has spare highslot for exploration and you can probobly shoehorn an analyzer/codebreaker in there if you want. the thing has good bonuses 7 lows and 3 mids. |

Thanks, I will look into the Omen Navy Issue. Didn't realize you couldn't do high sec exploration with BS's... |

First off, current version of EFT works fine on any Windows system. The newest version uses the new API keys and is apparently somewhat buggy.
Second, as already stated, a BS is not the best option for this. If you're staying in high sec, you are indeed pretty limited to cruisers. T3s can of course do this just fine but there are less expensive options out there. ONI has already been mentioned. I'm pretty sure you can make a Phantasm work here as well. The non-T3 gold standard is probably the Gila, but that's another skill set entirely. Pilgrim does fine here as well, but again: drones. |

Looks like the ONI doesn't have any launcher hard points. Wouldn't I need one for a scan probe launcher? |

Nope. Probe launcher doesn't require a hardpoint, just an open high slot. |

Keep in mind that you can do some highsec exploration in any size ship (including BSes). You're limited to the Radar/Mag sites, which are smaller payout in general than the gated (and hull-size restricted) combat sites, but you can still explore some.
And if you're looking for all-in-one ships, drone boats are really the best for it, since it lets you save pretty much all of your slots on your ship for utility/tank. You can do it in non-drone ships, but it's tighter to fit everything and still have room for weapons. |

The Ishtar works best for this kind of fittings, since it got a fairly large dronebay, drone DPS and a lot of high and med slots.
Legion, Curse or Sacrilege can do the job to, but the dps is a bit lacking. If you can live without salvager and tractor beam a Harbinger would be also a choice.

Ishtar/gila are beat sips for this as mentioned already, but if you got only amarr skills then phantasm isnt a bad Optione either |
