Not sure where to post this so its going here I guess. I saw in the Sell Forum that there is a Sniper Rule yet for the life of me I can't seem to find out what it is. Can anyone enlighten me?

Lets say there's a 15 minute sniper rule.
The auction ends at 20:00.
Someone bids 50 million at 19:59. The auction is now extended until 20:14.
At 20:13, another guy bids 60 million. The auction is now extended until 20:28.
And so on until 15 minutes go by without a bid.
Generally sniper rules only apply to individual items in an auction--extending one item won't extend everything else.

It should probably be in the market forum but....
Sniper Rule is to keep players from bidding right at the last second and winning like on e-bay. If you set a 15 minute Sniper then the auction ends 15 minutes AFTER the last bid to allow other players time to see they have been outbid and bid again if they would like.

Actually what I found as sniper rule explanation, and what I find making a lot more sense too, is that if there is a sniper rule of 15 minutes and the end of the auction is 20:00, only people that have already placed a bid before 19:45 are allowed to place bids in the final 15 minutes of the auction. This prevents people from showing no interest in the item whatsoever until the very last second and thus getting it extremely cheap while screwing the guys who did show interest earlier. And it also does not create infinite auctions.
The 15 minute extension thingy is what the call 'grace period'.

It does stop the problem. The "last minute" in that occasion would be 19:44, if only just to be qualified to bid after 19:45 till 20:00. By the time 19:45 comes to pass, you have a pool of X people that are interested, and will proceed to bid aggresively for the remaining 15 minutes till 20:00.
However , I looked it up myself and it appears sniper rule is what is used here, not the above scenario.
