Edited by: Rananeb on 15/02/2006 01:27:41 not sure if anyone else is having this problem, or if the server is actually unavailable. Got home from work, started up Eve, and instead of the normal message of #### players online, I get "unable to connect to 157.157.139.10 on port 26000" Thought nothing of it, figured it was some odd glitch...tried to connect, and got the message of "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong." So...thinking that for some odd reason, Eve was now being blocked by wonderful Symantec, I disabled the firewall, tried again. Still no go. Changed settings on router to allow port forwarding (didn't have to set it before) and still not able to connect. Tried pinging the server and got back a reply. Went off under Find Answers, and I'm able to telnet to server(get some funky characters in the DOS telnet screen after "connecting". Verified my login info.
Then I started up logserver. After trying to connect, there's this message: "7812006.02.15 01:21:00:085Connect succeded but the first read failed: 0. mSocket = 1004"
Won't comment on the grammer of the error message...but it appears that something is preventing the connection, and heck if I know what "first read failed" refers to, with that mSocket...anyone have any ideas?
Forgot to add specs for computer: (self-built) AMD 64 X2 3800+ 1GB of RAM ASUS A8N-SLI Premium 2x GeForce 6800GT in SLI mode Was last able to connect Sunday evening EST.

I now for 4 days have just been unable to get past the loading screen. CCp have looked into and say its my isp. Aol say it not them and its all fine. (which i believe as im not having any problems on other games or connecting to anything else).
My Eve starts loading and i have task manager running and it jumps from 20,000k to the normal 300,000k but nothing then after a while it flats out at around 20,000k but it wont get past the loading screen. i tried clearing cache and disabling firewall but nothing i do works. I had not chnaged anything from last time i logged on till the time i was unable to.
any answers?

JA Ruler, the same thing happens to me. Sometimes the game will fully load and I can play. This last time, however, was lag filled. I could not access my wallet and station services had a long time delay. --- It's a dream paradox... |

Well im happy that you were even able to log in. Im stall having to argue between CCP and AOL between who is to blame as neother will give me any evidence to what is wrong, and just blames each other

If its multiple ISP that are having the same issues, where it tries to log in and starts to load all the files it needs, but stops loading after "getting bloodlines" and the logging in bar "loads" but then it stops as though its retarded, or was given a difficult question....Ive contacted my isp, had them turn off all firewalls for my account, as well microsoft to have help with configuring my windows firewall. lets just say that im now really good at stumping tech support. and CCP GM's YOUR NEXT. unless of course there is a 0 where a 1 should be in the patch....

I am having the SAME exact issue since the day of the server upgrades. I get sporadic ping responses and get the same exact error message. I am using Cox internet services in USA. I cannot get on at all :( Has someone found a fix for this? I do not have a firewall and I am a Network Engineer in RL, so I have gone through the troubleshooting process.

Now that I think about it... this HAS to be incorrect BGP routing information from certain customers (including me) ISP to CCPs new DataCenter/Service Provider. CCP, where are you on this one????

I have been having this problem since the patch but tonight after trying again and failing I clicked my client over to Singularity (the test server) and got that same message but with a different IP for the test server but when I clicked back to Tranquility it connected and asked me to patch and the problem went away.
So I suggest clicking the client over to the test server and back and see if that helps you like it helped me. |

the thing is already patched, and the same "logging in" issue happens for the test server as well...

No way! lol. I come back from dinner, reload the client and everything works perfect. They HAD to have fixed something. My pings are 100% on now. FYI - BGP is an internet routing protocol.

just had a third person that plays eve download and try connecting from my connection. still nothing, so it may be an ISP issue. call tech support, and stump them like i do soo well. they are coming out tomorrow, to take a look, will update if anything happens. GM's where are you....

Edited by: Verreuckter on 25/02/2006 00:53:48 ok if you go into commnad prompt, and ping the server...if your ping has to travel through london.. there is a company there that the server goes through the did not update the IP address. so CCP needs to make the call seeing how they pay for what ever is in london. that will fix about 100% all problems.

I have been having this issue ever since I got my Laptop... it is a Dell Inspiron 6000 with ati 128m vid card upgrade.. I first thought it was isp but my desktop at home works fine.. I have tried connecting wireless and wired same port as desktop etc.. desktop works like a charm laptop continues to frustrate me.. I am now away from home for an extended amount of time and unfortunately only have access with my Dell.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It certainly isn't isp or client based. I can't ping the address from home or from work. I was able to connect perfectly fine last night and some seven hours later I can't find them at all.
Are we sure this isn't part of some regular downtime?
