I'm suggesting this, cause quite frankly, I really don't want to see 1billion posts on the forumns next week saying summin along the line of "OMG, WTF, 24HR DT!! I HAVE MISSED TRAINING TIME NOW!! REIMBURSE ME!!"
Mail everyone (not eve mail, normal email or maybe both), say there will be 24HR DT, that should helpfully reduce the amount of idoits we get on the forums durings and after the DT.

Or they could put it in the news like they do every time and if you're not bright enough to pay attention to the hardware upgrade thats been "coming" for about 6 months than it's your own problem.

It's in the news already, I just get a little irritated when everybody that is stupid comes on here and posts about not knowing and being stupid.

I get enough spam, thanks. What's next, emails telling me the server's going down for nightly maintenance? This is a MMO. There's adequate warnings on the site here, probably in the in-game news that shows up when you log in, and will no doubt be coming soon to the launcher itself before you log in at all.
If people still miss all that, an email to them isn't going to do much good.

The idiot who made the stupid mistake. CCP already tell us about this stuff before it happens, there are dev blogs about it and its been on its way for a long time, if you can't figure it out then buhu to you if you loose skill time.

This has a lot of holes in it too. Yes people do not look at the news all the time, but they also don't put a valid email adress in their profile either because they are paranoid about spam, or they don't update the email adress if their old ones are shut down.
So you will still have legions of people demanding such stuff and it really can't be avoided. But the hardware & patch combo in one day has been advertised enough as well as the server MOTD. Short of going to everyones house and telling them face to face there will always be hundreds of threads on patch days and for weeks afterwards.

I've only been playing Eve for about 2 weeks now. I am truly over-whelmed with the current information I'm attempting to absorb so I'm pre-apologizing for this question...
Where do I find this downtime schedule/calendar?

There is no calendar, watch the news and ccp will tell you when you need to be prepared for a downtime. The TQ cluster is down every day from 11:00 to 12:00 GMT.

personally.. im planning on setting a long skill, and not expecting to play for 2-3 days.. if its back on before that.. great. if not.. oh well.. the wait will be worth it

We have a news item, forum sticky and will most likely add an update to the MotD and main page in the coming days.
No matter how we choose to distribute information about upgrades, patches, deployments, etc., there will always be players that miss it. It is simply a fact of live that we have to learn to deal with.

What about a message on the login screen where it says how many players there are?
Nobody could miss that. Unless they have a plant infront of their screen or some chilli sauce on it.

Seriously though, the people who miss all the messages almost deserve to lose the training time, imo. |

I was one that complained very strongly last time, mostly because they didn't do what they done every other time including this one. Put a warning on the news that we all see at char selection ahead of time (last upgrade it was in the same day of the patch).
So happy that bad things were corrected this time. Good luck to the upgrade, i'll go try and make some company to my wife on that night

They could e-mail, send postal mail, send evemail, post it on the login screen, the character login page, place it on the billboards in game, and rename every structure/planet/moon/asteroid belt/solar system/stargate/ships, and people would still miss it.
