Think about it. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Escape From Atlantis, Forbidden Planet. What do they all have in common? (apart from being old and having stop motion special effects - at best). They have MONSTERS!
All sea faring civilisations have had legends of Kraken and Giant Squid etc. So what I say Eve needs is a part on the space map saying "Here be monsters". Huge great slimy space monsters with tentacles that have developed a taste for space faring vessels! Ship parasites that like eating theyre way through weapon linkages and other things that I can't be bothered to think up right now.
RGGGGHHHHHHAAAAAHHHHH! - MONSTERS! ahem...

I want to have stop motion effects, too... but no space monsters, please. That's so... Star Trek. -------------------------------------- Sarela "Eurydike" Taris

... There's rogue drones which might fit the image quite nicely; well, when they actually make it to the game anyway. :s

I prefer to think of it as more Call of Cthulu.

Umh... In Lovecraft's universe, people who claimed that they saw those monsters were considered pretty much lunatic... believe me - I did once.
Aside from going mad seeing what they can do... so, if CCP introduces a mental health bar, too... -------------------------------------- Sarela "Eurydike" Taris

I want a space dragon that breaths fire called "Lord Nagafen"
j/k I really do think something like bio based space creatures would be kinda cool, they could hange our in roid belts that have tons of bist. They should also be very powerful requiring 10+ battleships to take down and have 1 week respawn or something akin.

well.. I dont want to worry anyone, but I was taken out by a some kind of space squid during beta testing...
no, not a rouge drone.. I've made that mistake before.. this was some kind of.. MONSTER... I was busy fighting pirates when I *ahem, mysteriously blew up (nothing to do with my crap combat skills.. no.. must have been one of those..err.. freak explosions that..err.. happen..).. I started warping out of the system in my pod and by the time I came out of warp my pod was engulfed in some wierd squid creature.. .which erm.. ate me alive... the squid had claimed my pod, my life and what remained of my dignaty all in one.
I call to you all .. lets HUNT THE SQUID (which I now call the THE Genesis DEATH SQUID). Grab yer pitch forks and flaming tortches, gentlemen.

Hmm... I think 'monsters' would make EVE more like its cartoony older brother [born first, but by no means EVE's better (think Rain Man)] Earth and Beyond. That would be bad.

"well.. I dont want to worry anyone, but I was taken out by a some kind of space squid during beta testing..."
You sure got the right game? The Nomads in Freelancer look like some kind of clear luminescent giant squid.
Of all the pirates in EVE, the Angels and the Sansha have dedicated ships. The Angels look high tech, kind of Caldari like. The Sansha, on the other hand, look like monsters, you know, like the sea living sort of crusteaceans.
I don't care if monsters make EVE a bit more like Star Trek or Earth and Beyond. We just need something to make things more interesting and lively.
